Martha Mzomera Ngwira
Martha Mzomera Ngwira is a Malawian Democratic Progressive Party politician for Mzimba Hora. She became a member of the National Assembly in 2019 and she was appointed to be the Deputy Minister of Education. Life Her husband Christopher Ngwira was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in 2018. He was not able to stand in the 2019 elections because the Supreme Court had declared him to be a bankrupt. In 2019 Henry Mumba was chosen as the DPP candidate to represent Mzimba Hora but his name was withdrawn and Martha Mzomera Ngwira was chosen. However the electoral commission would not allow Mumba's name to be withdrawn so the DPP had more than one candidate, but they favoured Martha. She was elected and in December 2019 she joined a delegation led by the first lady, Gertrude Mutharika to China. Ngwira had already been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Education. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a political party in Malawi. The party was formed in February 2005 by the then Malawian President Bingu wa Mutharika after a dispute with his party the United Democratic Front (UDF), which was led by him in a 2004 general elections and chaired by his predecessor, Bakili Muluzi. History The DPP party is an offshoot of the United Democratic Front. The UDF was formed by Bingu wa Mutharika and Bakili Muluzi and came to power in 1994 under Muluzi. Gertrude Mutharika
Gertrude Hendrina Maseko is a former member of the national assembly and the former First Lady of Malawi. Maseko originates from the village of Kapasule in Balaka District. Roseby Gadama became the Malawian member of parliament for Zomda Thondwe in 2019. She is the chair of the Malawi Parliamentary Women's Caucus and she sits on the Public Accounts Committee.
