Magomedrasul Majidov
Mahommedrasul Majidov () (born 27 September 1986) is an Azerbaijani professional boxer. As an amateur he won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics and gold at the 2011, 2013 and 2017 World Championships, all in the super heavyweight division. Amateur career At the 2011 World Amateur Boxing Championships the hard hitting Majidov stopped Uzbek Sardor Abdullayev in the round of 16 and Cuban favorite Erislandy Savón who he dropped heavily in the quarter-finals. In the semis he beat Kazakh Ivan Dychko 16:9. In the final he edged out Englishman Anthony Joshua 22:21. At the 2012 Olympics he stopped Meji Mwamba and European champion Magomed Omarov from Russia 17:14 and looked on his way to beat defending champion Roberto Cammarelle, he was leading 8:6 after the first round but the Italian fought back to win 13:12 and Majidov won bronze. Islamic Solidarity Games
The Islamic Solidarity Games () is a multinational, multi-sport event. Managed jointly by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA), the Games involve elite athletes of the OIC competing in a variety of sports. The most recent edition was held in Konya, Turkey, in 2022. The next edition will take place in 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Background The Solidarity Games were established to strengthen Islamic camaraderie and reinforce the values of Islam, primarily to the youth. Roberto Cammarelle (born 30 July 1980) is an Italian amateur boxer, best known for winning the World Amateur Boxing Championships in 2007 (Chicago) and 2009 (Milan) as a super heavyweight and a gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Magomed Shakhbanovich Omarov (, born 16 October 16, 1989) is a Russian Super Heavyweight amateur boxer best known to win the 2011 European Amateur Boxing Championships. He also qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, held in London, where he reached the quarter-final but lost to Azeri World Champion Magomedrasul Majidov. Career Southpaw Omarov, as 19-year-old, grasped the gold medal at 2011 European Amateur Boxing Championships, held in Ankara, Turkey, in June 2011 by upsetting 2008 Olympic Champion Roberto Cammarelle. Omarov was sent to the Olympics instead of world class local rival Sergei Kuzmin. He qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics at the European Qualifying Event, held in April 2012. Ivan Fyodorovich Dychko (; born 11 August 1990) is a Kazakh professional boxer. As an amateur he won bronze medals at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. Erislandy Savón Cotilla (born July 21, 1990) is a Cuban heavyweight amateur boxer. Super heavyweight is a weight class in combat sports and bodybuilding, competitive bodybuilding. Boxing In amateur boxing, the super heavyweight division is a weight class division for fighters weighing in excess of 91 kilograms (200 pounds). Introduced for the 1984 Summer Olympics, the division is the amateur equivalent of the heavyweight division in professional boxing.
