MPBL All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award
The MPBL All-Star Game Most Valuable Player award is an annual Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League award given to the best performing player of the league's All-Star Game. It was first awarded after the 2019 All-Star Game, its inaugural edition. As of 2024, four players have won the award with Jeff Viernes being the only two-time recipient. Two other recipients, Jaycee Marcelino and Justine Baltazar, have also won Most Valuable Player, with the latter also winning Finals Most Valuable Player. The most recent recipient is Will McAloney. The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a men's professional sports, professional basketball league in the Philippines. History Manny Pacquiao launched the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League on August 29, 2017, starting off as a semi-professional league. According to Pacquiao, the league is not intended to be a competitor to the Philippine Basketball Association, the country's top professional basketball league. The MPBL was intended to feature both a regional commercial and barangay-level league with teams on the commercial side to have a home locality in addition to a corporate sponsor. 2022 MPBL All-Star Game
The 2022 MPBL season, known as the MPBL Mumbaki Season, was the fourth season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. This season the MPBL announced their partnership with OKBet as their official betting partner. The ''Maharlika'' (meaning freeman or freedman) were the feudal warrior class in ancient Tagalog society in Luzon, the Philippines. They belonged to the lower nobility class similar to the '' Timawa'' of the Visayan people. In modern Filipino, however, the word referred to aristocrats or to royal nobility, which was actually restricted to the hereditary '' Maginoo'' class. Like the ''Timawa'', they were free vassals of their ''Datu'' who were exempt from taxes and tribute but were required to provide military service. Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Awards
The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) presents eleven annual awards to recognize its teams, players, and coaches for their accomplishments. This does not include the three team trophies the league gives out to division champions and league champions as well as the All-MPBL Teams. The MPBL holds an awarding ceremony during the national finals of every season since 2019. The 2024 MPBL All-Star Game was an exhibition game played on September 7, 2024, during the 2024 season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions.
