Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards
The Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards (shortened as NERV) are a Filipino professional basketball team based in Palayan, Nueva Ecija. The team competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as a member of the league's North Division. The team plays its home games at Nueva Ecija Coliseum. The team began play as an expansion team for the 2019–20 MPBL season, though they would only begin using the ''Rice Vanguards'' moniker later on. The team also plays in the Pilipinas Super League under the name Nueva Ecija Capitals. The team also competed in FilBasket as well as in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3. The Nueva Ecija franchise is the holder of the only regular season sweep in the MPBL, recording 21 wins with no losses during the 2022 MPBL season, where they would go on to win their first MPBL championship. Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League
The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a men's regional professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of 30 teams. Founded in 2017 by eight-division boxing world champion and then-Senator Manny Pacquiao, the MPBL is not intended to be a competitor to the top-flight Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), but rather to provide a gateway for local, homegrown talents to showcase their skills. The league uses a home-and-away format, similar to the defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association. The MPBL started an amateur league before being granted professional status by the Games and Amusements Board. Due to Pacquiao's role in the league, it has also been referred to as Manny Pacquiao's Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. Charles Tiu
Charles Alandy-Dy Tiu (born January 11, 1989) is a TV presenter and basketball coach who currently serves as head coach of Benilde Blazers and Strong Group Athletics. He is the brother of Chris Tiu. Coaching career His basketball career started at 2009 still in college, when Rajko Toroman, the Smart Gilas coach hired him as an assistant. After Smart Gilas, he was hired by Powerade Tigers as an assistant coach to Bo Perasol. In 2013, he reunited with Toroman in Barako Bull Energy, again as his assistant coach. He reunited with Perasol (appointed as consultant) in Mighty Sports, where he was hired as an assistant coach. He later served as team's head coach. The Zamboanga Sikat (stylized as Zamboanga SiKAT), alternatively known as Sikat Zamboanga, is a Filipino professional basketball team based in Zamboanga City. The team currently competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as a member of the league's South Division. The team plays its home games at Mayor Vitaliano D. Agan Coliseum. The San Juan Knights (also abbreviated as SJK) are a Filipino professional basketball team based in San Juan. The team competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as a member of the league's North Division. The team plays its home games at Playtime Filoil Centre. The team's first incarnation was established in 1999 as a member of the Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA) and played there until 2001. Michael Mabulac
Michael Mabulac (born October 31, 1991) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Pangasinan Heatwaves franchise of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and Pilipinas Super League (PSL). After playing for the JRU Heavy Bombers and multiple teams in the PBA D-League, Mabulac was drafted 32nd overall by the San Miguel Beermen of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), but didn't get significant playing time. Will McAloney
William Bill McAloney Jr. (born September 1, 1993) is a Filipino-Canadian professional basketball player for the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). In his collegiate career, he played for Emilio Aguinaldo College–Cavite and University of San Carlos; the latter with which he won the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc.
