Längelmäki
Längelmäki is a former municipality of Finland. Längelmäki was divided in 2007 between Jämsä and Orivesi. Längelmäki is situated by the lake Längelmävesi, from which it has got also its name. The administrative center of Längelmäki was the village of Länkipohja. Its western parts are now part of the Pirkanmaa region and the eastern part are part of the Central Finland region. The municipality had a population of 1,734 (2003) and covered an area of 496,88 km2 of which 73,33 km2 was water (2006). The population density was 3.5 inhabitants per km2. The municipality was unilingually Finnish. History Längelmäki was first mentioned in 1506. Kuorevesi
Kuorevesi is a former municipality in Finland. It was part of the Pirkanmaa region in western Finland. In the year 2001 it was consolidated into the town of Jämsä in the Central Finland region. The name of the municipality came from the Lake Kuorevesi that is situated in its area. History The name of Kuorevesi is derived from the lake's name, which literally means " smelt water". Kuorevesi was first mentioned in 1449 as ''Kohrevesi'', though this may have referred to the lake. The area was a part of the Kangasala parish until 1540 and Orivesi until 1640, after which it became a part of the Längelmäki parish separated from Orivesi in the same year. Kuorevesi acquired its first proper church in 1683. Kuorevesi became a separate municipality in 1873 and a parish in 1881. Central Finland (; ) is a Regions of Finland, region ( / ) in Finland. Länkipohja () is a locality in Jämsä, Finland, located by the lake Längelmävesi. It was the administrative center of the municipality of Längelmäki, which was divided between Jämsä and Orivesi in 2007. Pirkanmaa (; ; ), also known as ''Tampere Region'' in government documents, is a region of Finland. Häme Province
The Province of Häme (, ), or Tavastia, was a province of Finland from 1831 to 1997. In 1997 the southern parts with Kanta-Häme, Päijät-Häme was merged with the province of Uusimaa and Kymi into the new province of Southern Finland. The northern part with Pirkanmaa was merged with the provinces of Vaasa, Central Finland, Turku and Pori into the new province of Western Finland.
