Partsrederiet Kystekspressen ANS branded as Kystekspressen or ''the Coast Express'' is a shipping company that operates passenger ferry services between Trondheim and Kristiansund, Norway. Three ships are used on the route, that includes the branch lines Trondheim–Sula, Sør-Trøndelag, Sula and Sistranda–Halten. It had 343,510 passengers in 2005. History Kystekspressen was launched on 6 June 1994 to take over operations of the fast ferries between Trondheim and Kristiansund. Until then, the services had been operated by Fosen Trafikklag in Sør-Trøndelag and by Møre og Romsdal Fylkesbåtar in Møre og Romsdal. The company was organized as a joint venture, and a through route between Trondheim and Kristiansund was established. Pier Terminal
The Pier Terminal () is a ferry terminal and bus station located at Brattøra in the centre of Trondheim (city), Trondheim, Norway. Fosen Trafikklag operates fast ferries across the fjord to Vanvikan, as well as Kystekspressen to Kristiansund (town), Kristiansund, and Sistranda. Team Trafikk serves the terminal with several routes by city bus. The terminal is owned by Fosen Trafikklag, whose head office is located in the upper levels of the building. Fjord1 AS is a Norwegian transport conglomerate, one of the largest in the Norwegian transport sector. Formed in 2001, company headquarters are in Florø, with the headquarters of the ferry division in Molde. It operates a fleet of environmentally friendly vessels in the Norwegian fjords. Formation Nordvestlandske was formed in 2001 by the merger of the county council-owned ferry companies Møre og Romsdal Fylkesbåtar and Fylkesbaatane i Sogn og Fjordane, becoming Fjord1 in December 2002. The fact that the merged company headquarters were located in Sogn og Fjordane made the merger unpopular in Møre og Romsdal county. Kristiansund (, ; historically spelled Christianssund and earlier named Fosna) is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality on the western coast of Norway in the Nordmøre district of Møre og Romsdal counties of Norway, county. Brekstad is a town in Ørland Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located along the Trondheimsfjord at the entrance to the Stjørnfjorden. The town is located about south of the village of Uthaug and about west of the villages of Austrått and Ottersbo. The town has a population (2024) of 2,437 and a population density of . Brekstad received town status on 8 October 2005, thus becoming the 95th town in Norway. The Earls of Lade () were a dynasty of Norse '' jarls'' from Lade (Old Norse: ''Hlaðir''), who ruled what is now Trøndelag and Hålogaland from the 9th century to the 11th century. The seat of the Earls of Lade was at Lade Gaard, now located in the eastern parts of the city of Trondheim. The site is near the seaside of the Trondheimsfjord, which was an important waterway in the Viking Age. According to Snorri, King Harald I of Norway was a great commander but lacked a fleet. Rognvald Eysteinsson () was the founding Jarl (or Earl) of Møre in Norway, and a close relative and ally of Harald Fairhair, the earliest known King of Norway. In the Norse language he is known as Rǫgnvaldr Eysteinsson (''Mǿrajarl'') and in modern Norwegian as Ragnvald Mørejarl. A catamaran () (informally, a "cat") is a watercraft with two parallel hull (watercraft), hulls of equal size. The wide distance between a catamaran's hulls imparts stability through resistance to rolling and overturning; no ballast is required.
