Kuohu (beer)
Kuohu () is a village, urban area and district of Jyväskylä, Finland, located in the western part of the city near the border with Petäjävesi. Before 2009, it was part of Jyväskylän maalaiskunta. The Finnish national road 18/ 23 and Haapamäki–Jyväskylä railway pass through Kuohu. The urban area, as defined by Statistics Finland, had a population of 372 on 31 December 2023. The official district of the city does not correspond to this definition. Geography General Kuohu is located on the border with the municipality of Petäjävesi, some west of downtown Jyväskylä. The village of Sarvenperä, formerly part of the Korpilahti municipality, is located south of Kuohu and is closely connected to it in terms of traffic. The center of Kuohu is located by four lakes: Iso-Lampsi, Pikku-Lampsi, Neulajärvi and Niemijärvi. Other lakes or ponds include Marjojärvi, Neulalampi, Mustalampi and Lauttalampi. Ruoke
Ruoke is a residential area and a district of Jyväskylä, Finland. It is a settlement and a former stop by the Jyväskylä-Haapamäki railway. The distance to central Jyväskylä is approximately . Ruoke may be seen as a separate village, though it was not a register village (an official village), instead being on the border of three historical register villages: Jyväskylä, Vesanka and Palokka. Register villages were officially abolished in 2014. Hanhiperä
Hanhiperä is a district and a statistical area of Jyväskylä, Finland. It is a remote part of Jyväskylä with only a few houses and only 6 permanent inhabitants as of 2021. The district of Hanhiperä borders Valkeamäki in the north, Keltinmäki in the east, Taka-Keljo in the south and Vesanka in the west. It also has a small border with the municipality of Muurame in the west. The main road of Hanhiperä and Valkeamäki is ''Hanhiperäntie'', which leads to the road 6015 (Vesangantie), in turn connecting Hanhiperä to central Jyväskylä and the national road 18/ 23. Geography Hanhiperä is a relatively high area, with multiple hills reaching 200 m. Winter War
The Winter War was a war between the Soviet Union and Finland. It began with a Soviet invasion of Finland on 30 November 1939, three months after the outbreak of World War II, and ended three and a half months later with the Moscow Peace Treaty on 13 March 1940. Despite superior military strength, especially in tanks and aircraft, the Soviet Union suffered severe losses and initially made little headway. The League of Nations deemed the attack illegal and expelled the Soviet Union from its organization. The Soviets made several demands, including that Finland cede substantial border territories in exchange for land elsewhere, claiming security reasonsprimarily the protection of Leningrad, from the Finnish border. Suojärvi
Suoyarvi (; ; ) is a town and the administrative center of Suoyarvsky District of the Republic of Karelia, Russia, located northwest of Petrozavodsk. Population: History It is known that during the 16th and 17th centuries a settlement existed here known as Shuyezersky ''pogost'' (a Russian form of the local Karelian name, meaning "swampy lake"). The first documented mention dates from 1589 when Suoyarvi is recorded as church community controlled by the Orthodox community of Sortavala. In 1630, Suoyarvi became an independent community. Great Partition
Great Partition ( ) was an agricultural land reform in Swedish Empire. It was a reform supported by the government with the purpose of shifting the land of the village communities, from the ''solskifte'', where every farmer owned several pieces of land split about the village, to a new system, where every farmer owned a connected piece of farmland. The purpose was to increase profit. This was the greatest land reform in Swedish history. The shift began in 1749 by the initiative of Jacob Faggot, and in 1757 a regulation was issued to given the reform a set organization. Initially, the request to start a reform of a peasant community demanded consensus, but in the regulation of 1757, a village could be shifted upon the request of only one farmer. The reform greatly changed the rural life. Vesanka
Vesanka is a village and a district of the city of Jyväskylä, in Central Finland. Before 1 January 2009, it was one of the villages of Jyväskylän maalaiskunta. It is located in the far western part of Jyväskylä near its borders with Petäjävesi, Muurame and, until 31 December 2008, Korpilahti. Residential concentrations within the official district include Kettulanmäki, Kylmäoja, Möykynmäki and Perälä. Vesanka forms the Kuohu-Vesanka ward together with Kuohu, Ruoke and Varsalanperä. Vesanka was classified as a separate urban area (taajama) until 2019. Muuratjärvi
Muuratjärvi is a lake of Finland in Muurame and Korpilahti, the latter being part of Jyväskylä since 2009. The lake has a surface area of 32 km2. The lake drains into the Päijänne via the ~ long Muuratjoki river, which flows through the center of Muurame. The lake has multiple islands, including Vuohensalo, Siikasaari, Konttisaari, Jahko and Raita. Vuohensalo is connected to the mainland via a road.
