Al-Shorta Sports Club () is an Iraqi sports club based in Al-Rusafa, Iraq, Al-Rusafa, Baghdad. It has teams in 19 different sports, and the best known section of the club is the football team, whose origins date back to 1932. Al-Shorta was formally established as a sports club in 1978 after a clubs-only policy was introduced to Iraqi football. Al-Shorta's football team is one of the most successful in Iraq, having won the Iraq Stars League seven times and the Iraq FA Cup once, completing the domestic Double (association football), double in the 2023–24 Al-Shorta SC season, 2023–24 season. Al-Mina'a Sports Club () is an Iraqi multi-sport club based in Al Maqal, Al-Maqal, Basra that participates in the Iraq Stars League, the top tier of Football in Iraq, Iraqi football. It is one of the most popular clubs in Iraq, particularly in the south, and became the first club outside Baghdad to win the Iraqi Premier League. Al-Mina'a was founded on November 22, 1931, in Al-Maqal. The Iraqi Super Cup (), previously called Iraqi Perseverance Cup (), is a super cup tournament in Iraqi football. Founded in 1986 as a two-team competition, the current version has been contested since 2025 by six teams: the top four teams from the Iraq Stars League and the winners and runners-up of the Iraq FA Cup. The six teams are split into two groups, with the group winners facing each other in the final and the group runners-up competing in a third place play-off. 2023–24 Iraq FA Cup
The 2023–24 Iraq FA Cup was the 34th edition of the Iraqi knockout football cup as a club competition, the main domestic cup in Iraqi football. 42 clubs from the top two tiers of the Iraqi football league system participated in the competition. The tournament began on 26 January 2024 with the first round between Iraqi Premier Division League clubs and the lower-placed Iraq Stars League clubs, before the top six Iraq Stars League clubs entered the competition in the Round of 16. The Iraq Cup (), commonly known as the Iraq FA Cup, is an annual Single-elimination tournament, knockout association football, football competition in men's domestic Football in Iraq, Iraqi football organised by the Iraq Football Association. First held in the 1948–49 season for clubs and institutions, it returned in the 1975–76 season as a clubs-only competition. The tournament usually begins with several rounds played between lower division clubs, twelve of which advance to the Round of 32, where the Iraq Stars League clubs are entered. This is followed by the Round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final which is played as a single leg in Baghdad. 2023–24 Iraq Stars League
The 2023–24 Iraq Stars League was the 50th season of the highest tier football league in Iraq since its establishment in 1974, and the first season since launching as a professional league under the name Iraq Stars League. The season started on 26 October 2023 and ended on 14 July 2024, with the post-season play-offs held from 19–24 July 2024. Al-Shorta won the league title for the third season in a row, sealing the title in the penultimate round of the season by defeating Duhok 1–0.
