Radio broadcasting is the broadcasting of audio signal, audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in ''satellite radio'' the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a Radio receiver, broadcast radio receiver (''radio''). Stations are often affiliated with a radio network that provides content in a common radio format, either in broadcast syndication or simulcast, or both. KAIV
KAIV, licensed to Thousand Oaks, California, United States, and KYZA, licensed to Adelanto, California, are radio stations on 92.7 MHz broadcasting the Air1 Christian radio network to areas north of Los Angeles. The stations are owned alongside Air1 by the Educational Media Foundation. KAIV serves Ventura County and far northwestern Los Angeles County, while KYZA covers the Victor Valley. The two stations had independent histories prior to 1997. The Victor Valley station started life in 1959 as Riverside-based KACE-FM, and KNJO signed on four years later to serve Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Valley. In the 1990s, the Amaturo Group acquired these two stations and a third 92.7 facility—KRCI, originally on Catalina Island. Air1 is an American Christian radio network owned by the Educational Media Foundation (EMF), a non-profit Christian ministry. It primarily broadcasts contemporary worship music, and is a sister to the EMF's K-Love network. History On July 15, 1986, KLRD began broadcasting Christian hit/rock music from Yucaipa, California, and went by the on-air moniker K-LORD. In 1994, KXRD was started as a sister station to KLRD. In 1995, K-LORD changed its name to "Air1" and began broadcasting via satellite from St. Helens, Oregon. Air1 Radio (formerly K-LORD) was originally launched by K-LOVE founder Bob Anthony Fogal and Jon and Noonie Fuglar. In 1999, Air1 joined with EMF Broadcasting, and finally in 2002, it moved its headquarters to Rocklin, California. KAIA (95.9 MHz) is an FM radio station that is licensed to La Mirada, California, and serves Orange County and southern Los Angeles County. The station is owned by the Educational Media Foundation (EMF). KAIA broadcasts a contemporary worship music via EMF's nationwide Air1 network. History Early years The station at 95.9 FM in Orange County, California has its origins in KEZY, which first signed on in 1959, at 1190 AM from its studios at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim with a 1,000-watt signal. The first voice heard on KEZY was that of canine TV star Lassie. Lassie's owner, Rudd Weatherwax, was an investor in the station and the hotel. It was first known as "K-Easy" as it broadcast an easy listening music format. KAHZ
KAHZ (1600 AM) is a broadcast radio station in the United States. Licensed to Pomona, California, the station is owned by Multicultural Broadcasting and is a full-time simulcast of KAZN, a Chinese language station licensed in Pasadena. The station first signed on in 1947 as KPMO. For nearly four decades, the station was owned by Dean H. Wickstrom and his family. KPMO began as a community radio station serving Pomona. In 1955, KPMO became KWOW. Throughout the 1960s, KWOW had a country music format. Then for much of the 1970s and 1980s, KWOW had an oldies format. In 1986, the Wickstrom family sold KWOW to local investment advisor Edward "Buz" Schwartz.
