KAIV
KAIV, licensed to Thousand Oaks, California, United States, and KYZA, licensed to Adelanto, California, are radio stations on 92.7 MHz broadcasting the Air1 Christian radio network to areas north of Los Angeles. The stations are owned alongside Air1 by the Educational Media Foundation. KAIV serves Ventura County and far northwestern Los Angeles County, while KYZA covers the Victor Valley. The two stations had independent histories prior to 1997. The Victor Valley station started life in 1959 as Riverside-based KACE-FM, and KNJO signed on four years later to serve Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Valley. In the 1990s, the Amaturo Group acquired these two stations and a third 92.7 facility—KRCI, originally on Catalina Island. KMRO (90.3 FM) is a non-commercial radio station licensed to Camarillo, California and broadcasting to the areas of Ventura County and southern Santa Barbara County, California. KLXD is a non-commercial FM radio station that is licensed to Victorville and serves Victor Valley on the 89.5 MHz frequency. It is owned by Educational Media Foundation and broadcasts Contemporary Christian music via EMF's nationwide K-Love network. History KLXD signed on in 1996 as KXRD, a simulcast of KLRD in Yucaipa, California, known as "K-Lord". Shortly after KXRD signed on, the stations were renamed "Air 1", marking the beginning of the network. KXRD continued as a Air1 member station until October 2015. Thousand Oaks is the second-largest city in Ventura County, California, located in the northwestern part of Greater Los Angeles. Encino is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, California. History Etymology The name Encino is the misspelling in masculine of Encina, the Spanish language, Spanish word for "holm oak” (Quercus ilex). The Spanish name reflects the original Tongva-language name for the village of Siutcanga, which can be translated to "the place of the oaks."
