Junshan Yinzhen
Junshan Yinzhen (; Standard Chinese pronunciation ) is a yellow tea from Junshan Island of the Hunan Province in China. It is considered to be China's rarest tea and one of the Ten Chinese Famous Teas. Although the same kind of tea trees are also planted around Dongting Lake, where Junshan Island is located, those teas should not be called Junshan Yinzhen. The tea resembles the White tea Yinzhen known as Bai Hao Yinzhen. Junshan Yinzhen, allegedly the preferred tea of Chairman Mao Zedong, is a rare tea sometimes sold as White tea. Yellow Tea
Yellow tea is a particular lightly oxidized tea, either Chinese ''huángchá'' ( zh, t=黃茶, s=黄茶, labels=no) and Korean ''hwangcha'' (). Chinese ''huángchá'' ''Huángchá'' is increasingly rare and expensive. The process for making it is similar to that of green tea but with an added step of encasing, or ''sweltering'', giving the leaves a slightly yellow coloring during the drying process. Chinese yellow tea is often placed in the same category as green tea because of its light oxidation. Yinzhen
The Yongzheng Emperor (13 December 1678 – 8 October 1735), also known by his temple name Emperor Shizong of Qing, personal name Yinzhen, was the fourth emperor of the Qing dynasty, and the third Qing emperor to rule over China proper. The fourth son of the Kangxi Emperor, Yongzheng ascended the throne following prolonged disputes over succession. A hard-working ruler, he aimed to create a more effective government, cracked down on corruption and reformed the personnel and financial administration. His reign also saw the formation of the Grand Council, an institution that had a major impact on the future of the dynasty. Militarily, Yongzheng continued his father's efforts to consolidate Qing's position in Outer Mongolia and Tibet through force. Junshan Island
Junshan Island () is an island in Hunan province in China on Dongting Lake. The name derives from the legend of the Xiang River goddesses. It is in area. It was formerly a Daoist retreat. History Junshan Island consists of 72 peaks on an oval island in Dongting Lake. It was initially called "Mount Xiang" () in ancient times, also referred to as "Mount Dongting" (). Junshan Island is full of historical sites such as the Tomb of Xiangfei (). Legend said that 4,000 years ago during Emperor Shun's inspection visit in the south, two concubines named "Ehuang" () and "Nüying" () followed him to Dongting Lake, but they were stopped by stormy weather. When they heard that Emperor Shun had died suddenly they cried so bitterly that their teardrops turned the bamboo into mottled bamboo. Dongting Lake
Dongting Lake () is a large, shallow lake in northeastern Hunan Province, China. It is a flood basin of the Yangtze River, so its volume depends on the season. The provinces of Hubei and Hunan are named after their location relative to the lake: ''Hubei'' means "North of the Lake" and ''Hunan'', "South of the Lake". Dongting Lake is famous in Chinese culture as the place of origin of dragon boat racing and is home to the critically endangered Yangtze finless porpoise. White Tea
White tea may refer to one of several styles of tea which generally feature young or minimally processed leaves of the ''Camellia sinensis'' plant. Currently there is no generally accepted definition of white tea and very little international agreement on how it can be defined. Some sources use the term to refer tea that is merely dried with no additional processing. Therefore, white tea is very close to the natural state of the tea plant. Other sources use the term to refer to tea made from the buds and immature tea leaves picked shortly before the buds have fully opened and traditionally allowed to wither and dry under the sun, while others include tea buds and very young leaves which have been steamed or fired before drying.
