Jokowi
Joko Widodo (; born 21 June 1961), often known mononymously as Jokowi, is an Indonesian politician, engineer, and businessman who served as the seventh president of Indonesia from 2014 to 2024. Previously a member of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), he was the country's first president not to emerge from the country's political or military elite. He previously served as governor of Jakarta from 2012 to 2014 and mayor of Surakarta from 2005 to 2012. Jokowi was born and raised in a riverside slum in Surakarta. He graduated from Gadjah Mada University in 1985, and married his wife, Iriana, a year later. He worked as a carpenter and a furniture exporter before being elected mayor of Surakarta in 2005. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (, PDI-P) is a centre to centre-left secular-nationalist political party in Indonesia. Since 2014, it has been the ruling and largest party in the House of Representatives (DPR), having won 110 seats in the latest election. 2012 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election
General elections were held on 11 July and 20 September 2012 in Jakarta to elect the governor of Jakarta for a five-year term. Incumbent governor Fauzi Bowo was running for a second successive term. The first round resulted with two top-voted candidates, Joko Widodo and Fauzi Bowo to advance to the runoff as neither received majority of votes in the first round. Quick count results released in mass media after the second round voting indicated that Joko Widodo is projected to win the runoff with 54% of popular votes. Widjiatno Notomihardjo (30 December 1938 – 23 July 2000) was an Indonesian businessman, best known for being the father of Joko Widodo, the seventh president of Indonesia. He was a successful wood merchant in Surakarta and entered politics through the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle shortly prior to his death.
