''The John and Ken Show'' was an American talk radio show, hosted by John Chester Kobylt and Kenneth Robertson Chiampou. The show aired Monday thru Friday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Time on KFI AM 640, a local Southern California talk radio station. The program was one of the most listened to local talk radio programs in the United States and drew an estimated weekly audience of approximately 1.2 million listeners. History Origins in New Jersey John Kobylt was born to a working class Catholic family in Paterson, New Jersey. His father, Chester, was born in Poland and, like many Europeans of his time, was greatly affected by the German aggression. He was taken from his family and held in a Nazi labor camp for five years. WMGM (103.7 FM) is a radio station licensed to Atlantic City, New Jersey, playing active rock. WMGM serves most of southern New Jersey from Toms River to Cape May. Its studios are in Linwood, New Jersey, and its transmitter is in Pleasantville, New Jersey. History 103.7 first signed on with 2,800 watts on June 14, 1961, as WOSJ, later as WMGM. The 1960s were simulcasts of WOND, and good music, then home-made Top 40 tapes. Charles Karel Bouley, known on-the-air as Karel, is an American talk radio host, singer, TV personality, and author. He began his career as a comedian and singer. Karel released one album and multiple singles in the 1990s, including the album ''Dance... Or Else''. While promoting a record, he was signed to do a radio show on KYPA Los Angeles called "Different After Dark." Daryl Francis Gates (born Darrel Francis Gates; August 30, 1926 – April 16, 2010) was an American police officer who served as chief of the Los Angeles Police Department from 1978 to 1992. His length of tenure in this position was second only to that of William H. Parker. Gates is credited with the creation of SWAT teams alongside fellow Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer John Nelson, who others claim was the originator of SWAT in 1965.
