Vila Curuçá
Vila Curuçá is a municipal District located in the eastern section, Zona Leste, of the city and prefecture of São Paulo, Brazil. It is one of the two districts making up the subprefecture of Itaim Paulista. History Vila Curuçá shares a common history with the district of Itaim Paulista and the eastern part of the district of Jardim Helena. The first Portuguese explorers arrived in the area in the early years of the 17th century. In 1610–11, the Bandeirante Domingos de Góes is recorded as having received a grant of land from the Portuguese crown in the "Boi Sentado" area, near the Tietê River. This land passed into the hands of the Carmelite priests in 1621. It was around this time that the chapel of Our Lady of Biacica was constructed (the name derives from the Tupi word "''imbeicica''", signifying a tough vine commonly found along the Tietê River). Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. São Miguel Paulista (CPTM)
São Miguel Paulista is a train station belonging to CPTM Line 12-Sapphire, located in the city of São Paulo. History The station was built by EFCB on 7 February 1926, along with Variante de Poá, which was opened only on 1 January 1934. In the end of the 1970s, it was rebuilt by RFFSA, being reopened on 10 June 1982. It was operated by Brazilian Company of Urban Trains (CBTU) until 1994, when it was transferred, along with other CBTU lines and stations, to the CPTM. The rebuilt plan of the station to west of the capital was published initially in 2002, in the CPTM Director Plan. In 2004, the Una Arquitetos office was hired for the development of the basic plan. Besides it was announced in June 2007, the rebuilt didn't happen until the 2010s, when the executive project was made. Itaim Paulista is a train station on CPTM Line 12-Sapphire, located in the district of Itaim Paulista, a few meters from Jardim Helena, facilitating the access for passengers of both neighbourhoods, located in the city of São Paulo. History Variante de Poá (or Variante de Calmon Vianna) had its construction initiated in 1921 by EFCB to facilitate the cargo trains route because the lack of bends if compare to the São Paulo branch. The construction of Itaim Paulista was finished and opened on 7 February 1926, but the line was opened only on 1 January 1934, after 8 years of hold in the construction. On 1 March 1962, the station receive the last steam train, which connected Roosevelt station to Itaim Paulista. In 1977, RFFSA hired the Cetenco Engenharia S/A company to rebuilt the station.
