São Miguel Paulista (CPTM)
São Miguel Paulista is a train station belonging to CPTM Line 12-Sapphire, located in the city of São Paulo. History The station was built by EFCB on 7 February 1926, along with Variante de Poá, which was opened only on 1 January 1934. In the end of the 1970s, it was rebuilt by RFFSA, being reopened on 10 June 1982. It was operated by Brazilian Company of Urban Trains (CBTU) until 1994, when it was transferred, along with other CBTU lines and stations, to the CPTM. The rebuilt plan of the station to west of the capital was published initially in 2002, in the CPTM Director Plan. In 2004, the Una Arquitetos office was hired for the development of the basic plan. Besides it was announced in June 2007, the rebuilt didn't happen until the 2010s, when the executive project was made. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Estrada De Ferro Central Do Brasil
The Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil was one of the principal railways of Brazil, uniting the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Minas Gerais. Origins On 9 February 1855, The imperial government of Brazil signed a contract with Edward Price for the construction of the first section of a railway which had the aim of linking the court (then in the city of Rio de Janeiro) with the provinces of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. It was constituted as the ''Companhia de Estrada de Ferro Dom Pedro II'', under the directorship of Christiano Benedicto Ottoni. Works commenced on 11 June 1855 and on 29 March 1858, the 48 km gauge section from Rio de Janeiro to Freguesia de Nossa Senhora da Conceição de Marapicu (now Queimados) was completed. RFFSA
The Rede Ferroviária Federal, Sociedade Anônima (RFFSA, pronounced as ''Refesa'') () was the State-owned national railway company of Brazil created from ''Brazilian Federal Law #3.115'' on March 16, 1957, after several railroads were nationalized by the Brazilian government. However, the railroad did not take full effect until September 30, 1957. The RFFSA linked 42 railways together (both on documents and actual railroads), creating a regional system composed of 22 railroads. The goal of the RFFSA was to promote and advance the railroad sector of Brazil, creating a north-south-east-west rail network in all five regions of Brazil. But it failed and the RFFSA only served four of the five regions with a north-south rail network win 19 units of the federation of Brazil.
