Itaim Paulista (CPTM)
Itaim Paulista is a train station on CPTM Line 12-Sapphire, located in the district of Itaim Paulista, a few meters from Jardim Helena, facilitating the access for passengers of both neighbourhoods, located in the city of São Paulo. History Variante de Poá (or Variante de Calmon Vianna) had its construction initiated in 1921 by EFCB to facilitate the cargo trains route because the lack of bends if compare to the São Paulo branch. The construction of Itaim Paulista was finished and opened on 7 February 1926, but the line was opened only on 1 January 1934, after 8 years of hold in the construction. On 1 March 1962, the station receive the last steam train, which connected Roosevelt station to Itaim Paulista. In 1977, RFFSA hired the Cetenco Engenharia S/A company to rebuilt the station. Itaim Paulista
Itaim Paulista is a district in the subprefecture of the same name in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. The name ''Itaim'' comes from Tupi and means ''Little Stone''. There is a large Pentecostalist Evangelical Protestant presence in the suburban areas along with a flourishing Catholic community. Despite significant poverty there is a surfaced road network and a good basic sanitation system. The area is served by banks, retail and wholesale shopping establishments, supermarkets, hospitals and clinics. The Shopping Itaim Paulista shopping centre and the Itaim Paulista General Hospital were opened recently. The area is linked to the rest of São Paulo by the Metropolitan Train Company ( CPTM)'s Line 12. The local stations are Itaim Paulista (CPTM) and Jardim Romano (CPTM). Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Jardim Romano is a train station on CPTM Line 12-Sapphire, located in the city of São Paulo São Paulo (, ; Portuguese for 'Saint Paul') is the most populous city in Brazil, and is the capital of the state of São Paulo, the most populous and wealthiest Brazilian state, located in the country's Southeast Region. The Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil was one of the principal railways of Brazil, uniting the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Minas Gerais. Origins On 9 February 1855, The imperial government of Brazil signed a contract with Edward Price for the construction of the first section of a railway which had the aim of linking the court (then in the city of Rio de Janeiro) with the provinces of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. It was constituted as the ''Companhia de Estrada de Ferro Dom Pedro II'', under the directorship of Christiano Benedicto Ottoni. Works commenced on 11 June 1855 and on 29 March 1858, the 48 km gauge section from Rio de Janeiro to Freguesia de Nossa Senhora da Conceição de Marapicu (now Queimados) was completed. RFFSA
The Rede Ferroviária Federal, Sociedade Anônima (RFFSA, pronounced as ''Refesa'') () was the State-owned national railway company of Brazil created from ''Brazilian Federal Law #3.115'' on March 16, 1957, after several railroads were nationalized by the Brazilian government. However, the railroad did not take full effect until September 30, 1957. The RFFSA linked 42 railways together (both on documents and actual railroads), creating a regional system composed of 22 railroads. The goal of the RFFSA was to promote and advance the railroad sector of Brazil, creating a north-south-east-west rail network in all five regions of Brazil. But it failed and the RFFSA only served four of the five regions with a north-south rail network win 19 units of the federation of Brazil.
