Ivan Marić ( sr-Cyrl, Иван Марић; born 3 August 1994) is a Serbian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back or defensive midfielder for Liga 2 club Adhyaksa. Club career Early years Born in Čačak, Marić came through the youth academy of his local side Borac Čačak. He later moved to another local club Sloboda Čačak. In the 2013–14 season, he played for Zvezdara in the Belgrade Zone League. Professional career In early 2015, as a young prospect at the age of 20, Marić moved up two tiers to join Serbian First League club Sloga Kraljevo. He would make 10 appearances up to the end of 2014–15 season. After the season, Marić moved abroad to pursue a trial at Macedonian side Mladost Carev Dvor. After spending the 2015–16 season with Jedinstvo Bijelo Polje in the Montenegrin Second League, Marić moved to Lokomotíva Zvolen, with which he stayed until the end of 2016. The Serbian First League (Serbian: Prva liga Srbije) is the second-highest football league in Serbia. The league is operated by the Serbian FA. 16 teams competed in the league for the 2014–15 season. Two teams will be promoted to the Serbian SuperLiga while the 3rd placed team will play in the play-offs against the 14th team in the SuperLiga. The Serbian First League (), referred to as the Mozzart Bet First League for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier in professional Serbia's football league. The league was formed in 2005, following a reshuffle of the second tier Serbo-Montenegrin divisions. It is operated by the Football Association of Serbia. Format The league is usually formed by 16 clubs which play all against one another twice, once at home, once away. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Football Association of Serbia completed a restructure of the league system, and in season 2020/2021 that meant 18 clubs would be competing in the Serbian First League, the number of clubs will go back to the usual 16 following the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season.
