Henri Blanc-Fontaine
Henri Emmanuel Blanc-Fontaine (16 January 1819, Grenoble - 20 December 1897, Sassenage) was a French painter. He created genre scenes, portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. Biography He had originally planned to have a legal career, but followed the advice of his friend, Diodore Rahoult, a rising local artist, and went to Paris, where he was a pupil of Léon Cogniet. In 1843, he also enrolled at the École de Beaux-Arts. He had his first exhibit at the Salon in 1848. Rahoult introduced him to landscape painting in 1853, and that became his favorite subject after 1870. He was also a pupil of Jean Achard (whose portrait he painted; now kept in the Museum of Grenoble) and François-Auguste Ravier in Charlieu. The painter, Eugénie Gruyer-Brielman, was his sister-in-law, by her relationship to his wife, Julie Amélie, née Gruyer. In 1868, he and Rahoult were commissioned to decorate the new . Musée De L'Ancien Évêché
The Musée de l'Ancien Évêché (Museum of the Former Bishopric) is a departmental museum located in Grenoble, France and dedicated to the Isère heritage through the history of its Bishop's palace. Inaugurated in 1998, it is settled in the former Bishop's palace, near Grenoble Cathedral. The museum gives access to the remains of an early Christian baptistry and to a section of the vestiges of the Gallo-Roman wall in the basement of the building. Permanent exhibition The permanent exhibition ''Isère through History'' displays items and paintings relating to the development of Isère from pre-history to the present day. Maxime Du Camp
Maxime Du Camp (8 February 1822 – 9 February 1894) was a French writer and photographer. Biography Born in Paris, Du Camp was the son of a successful surgeon. After finishing college, he indulged in his strong desire for travel, thanks to his father's assets. Du Camp traveled in Europe and the East between 1844 and 1845, and again between 1849 and 1851 in company with Gustave Flaubert. After his return, Du Camp wrote about his traveling experiences. Flaubert also wrote about his experiences with Maxime. In 1851, Du Camp became a founder of the ''Revue de Paris'' (suppressed in 1858), in which his friend Flaubert's Madame Bovary was first published in serialised form in 1856, as well as a frequent contributor to the ''Revue des deux mondes''.
