Hedemora Diesel
Hedemora Diesel is a trademark to the Swedish company Hedemora Turbo & Diesel AB in Hedemora, Dalarnas län (a county in Sweden). It is a spinoff from Hedemora Verkstäder. The company used to produce diesel engines for ships, locomotives, and oil rigs along with backup generators to hospitals. The company later shifted its focus to supply existing engines with spare parts and service. In February 2006 Hedemora Diesel was bought by the Australian company Coote Industrial Ltd. In February 2016 the company name was changed to Hedemora Turbo & Diesel, to include the manufacturing, design authority, parts and service supply of HS Turbochargers, that were acquired from Turbomeca in 2009. Hedemora
Hedemora is a Urban areas in Sweden, town in Dalarna County and the seat of Hedemora Municipality, Sweden, with 7,273 inhabitants in 2010. Despite its small population, Hedemora is for historical reasons normally still referred to as a Stad (Sweden), ''city'', and as such the oldest in the county. TCDD DE 24000 (stylised as DE 24 000 in painted registration numbers) is a type of diesel locomotive built for operations on Turkish State Railways (TCDD) by Tülomsaş. 218 units were built between 1970 and 1984 under license from Matériel de Traction Electrique (MTE) of France. The DE 24000 formed the backbone of the dieselisation of the Turkish railways during the 1970s. It follows the hood unit road switcher design, like most Turkish mainline locomotives. A diesel locomotive is a type of railway locomotive in which the prime mover is a diesel engine. Several types of diesel locomotives have been developed, differing mainly in the means by which mechanical power is conveyed to the driving wheels. Early internal combustion locomotives and railcars used kerosene and gasoline as their fuel. Rudolf Diesel patented his first compression-ignition engine in 1898, and steady improvements to the design of diesel engines reduced their physical size and improved their power-to-weight ratios to a point where one could be mounted in a locomotive. Internal combustion engines only operate efficiently within a limited power band, and while low power gasoline engines could be coupled to mechanical transmissions, the more powerful diesel engines required the development of new forms of transmission. SJ T45
T45 is a Swedish diesel-electric locomotive operated by Swedish State Railways ( sv, Statens Järnvägar, SJ) and later other companies. It was in passenger service with SJ from 1971 to 1976, after which it was used in heavy industry. It is the only diesel locomotive to be built by Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget (ASEA). The loco used a SEMT Pielstick diesel engine. ASEA used the same bogies and electrical systems as on the Rc locomotive, while Thune of Norway built the mechanical parts.
