Hadnall
Hadnall is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. It lies on the A49, some 9 km north-north-east of Shrewsbury. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 688. The Welsh Marches Line runs just outside the village and there was once a railway station. Today, Hadnall has a primary school, a successful village shop, a pub and two AA rosette restaurants. The village church is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene. General Sir Rowland Hill, 1st Viscount Hill, who lived at nearby Hardwick Grange, is buried here, as was writer Charles Hulbert who lived at Providence Grove. John Bromley, future trade union leader and Labour MP, whose parents lived at Haston Grove in the parish, was born and baptised here in 1876. Crewe And Shrewsbury Railway
The Crewe and Shrewsbury Railway was a railway company which was previously owned by the London and North Western Railway (LNWR), built to connect Crewe with the Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway which was jointly owned with GWR. Authorised in 1853, planning difficulties accessing the GWR station at Shrewsbury delayed opening until 1858. Proving so successful for both companies to transport coal from the South Wales Valleys to industrial Northwest England, and finished goods in the opposite direction, it was doubled tracked by 1862. Amalgamated into the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1923, post nationalisation into British Railways, its services reduced as motor transport proved quicker more cost effective than its various branch lines. Yorton Railway Station
Yorton railway station serves the villages of Yorton and Clive in Shropshire, England. It is 7¼ miles (11.5 km) north of Shrewsbury on the Welsh Marches Line towards Crewe. It has two platforms and dates from 1858. Trains only stop here upon request. The station was designated for the axe in Dr Beeching's "The Reshaping of British Railways" in the 1960s; however it was ultimately saved. Facilities The station is unstaffed and has no ticket provision (so these must be bought on the train or in advance); the old buildings still stand but are now privately owned. There are shelters on both sides and train running information is provided via CIS displays, a customer help point on platform 1, a payphone on platform 2 and timetable poster boards.
