HM Prison La Moye
HM Prison La Moye is a mixed-use prison on the island of Jersey. La Moye is currently Jersey's only prison, and is situated within the boundaries of the Vingtaine de la Moye. It is operated by the Jersey Prison Service, part of the Department of Home Affairs. The prison was opened in the mid-1970s, and originally built to house 150 inmates. Because La Moye is the island's only jail, it has to provide accommodation for men, women and vulnerable prisoners. The young offenders wing was closed due to no funding. Consequently, there are four distinctive areas of the prison which have been set aside for each category of inmate. Facilities The prison has an active education programme and all prisoners are encouraged to participate. Prisoners are usually assessed to determine their level of education within a short time of arriving at La Moye. Inmates can study both academic and vocational qualifications. HMS Indefatigable (1909)
HMS ''Indefatigable'' was the lead ship of Indefatigable-class battlecruiser, her class of three battlecruisers built for the Royal Navy during the first decade of the 20th Century. When the First World War began, ''Indefatigable'' was serving with the 2nd Battlecruiser Squadron (United Kingdom), 2nd Battlecruiser Squadron (BCS) in the Mediterranean, where she unsuccessfully pursued the battlecruiser and the light cruiser of the German Imperial Navy as they fled toward the Ottoman Empire. The ship bombarded Ottoman fortifications defending the Dardanelles on 3 November 1914, then, following a refit in Malta, returned to the United Kingdom in February where she rejoined the 2nd BCS. Isle of Man Prison is a mixed-use prison located in the Jurby parish of the Isle of Man. The prison is operated by the Isle of Man Prison Service (part of the Department of Home Affairs (Isle of Man), Department of Home Affairs) and is the only functioning prison on the island. Guernsey Prison
Guernsey Prison (also known as Les Nicolles Prison) is a mixed-use prison on the island of Guernsey. Opened in 1989, it is currently Guernsey's only prison, and therefore accommodates male, female and vulnerable prisoners, both of juvenile and adult ages. The prison has 11 wings, and a capacity of 139. It is operated by the States of Guernsey. History The prison has seen its population fluctuate considerably over the years. Numbers peaked at 127 in August 2012, before falling to an all-time low of 89 in 2015. The prison's population has steadily increased again since the COVID-19 pandemic, with 99 prisoners reported to be housed in the prison in November 2024. His Majesty's Prison Belmarsh is a Category A men's prison located in Thamesmead, south-east London, England. Belmarsh Prison is run by His Majesty's Prison Service and is situated next to HMP Isis and HMP Thameside. The prison is used for high-profile cases, particularly those concerning national security. Frederick William John Augustus Hervey, 7th Marquess of Bristol ( "Harvey"; 15 September 1954 – 10 January 1999), also known as John Jermyn and John Bristol, was a British hereditary peer, aristocrat and businessman. Leonard Norman (1947 – 1 June 2021) was a Jersey politician, and Connétable of Saint Clement. He was originally elected to the States of Jersey in 1983, as a Deputy. Biography Len Norman was born in 1947 in Jersey. He was educated at Beaulieu and then at De La Salle College, Jersey. He was the President of the Jersey Sports Council, President of the Jersey Friends of the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust and Patron of St Clement Sports Club.
