Goulburn Valley Football Netball League
The Goulburn Valley League (GVL), also known as the Goulburn Valley Football Netball League (GVFNL), is an Australian rules football and netball competition based in the Goulburn Valley region of Victoria. History The league was initially called the Goulburn Valley District Football Association (GVDFA) and dates back to May 1893. Clubs from the townships of Kyabram, Mooroopna, Nagambie, Nathalia, Numurkah, Shepparton, Shepparton Ramblers, Tatura, Undera and Wunghnu were present at the inaugural meeting, with club's deciding to play on a Wednesday afternoon. The five original clubs that chose to play on Wednesdays that made up the 1893 GVDFA draw were – Kyabram, Mooroopna, Shepparton, Shepparton Ramblers and Tatura with Mooroopna defeating the Shepparton Ramblers in the 1893 GVDFA grand final. Kyabram () is a town in north central Victoria, Australia. Kyabram is located in the centre of a rich irrigation district in the Goulburn River Valley, north of Melbourne. The name of the town is thought to derive from an Aboriginal word Kiambram meaning "thick forest". It is the second-largest town in the Shire of Campaspe, situated between the towns of Echuca and Shepparton and is close to the Murray River, Goulburn River, Campaspe River and Waranga Basin. The Kyabram Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Bombers'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Kyabram, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Goulburn Valley Football League (GVFL). History Kyabram was a foundation club in the Goulburn Valley Football League (GVDFA) in 1893 and initially wore a white and blue jersey, with red stockings. Kyabram did not affiliate with the GVDFA between 1895 and 1898, but the "Kyabram Ramblers FC" were active playing a number of friendly matches against other local teams in 1896. Kyabram FC rejoined the GVDFA in 1899. The club had a successful era the 1920s, when they won five GVFL premierships, including the Kyabram Reserves winning the senior football premiership in the Northern Goulburn Football Association in 1929. The Waranga North East Football Association was established in 1913 as an Australian Rules football association which was based in the North East and Upper Goulburn Valley regions of Victoria and was active up until 1976. History In May 1913 representatives from Avenel, Euroa, Murchison, Nagambie and Seymour met at the Tabilk Hotel, Tabilk, Victoria, Tabilk and formed the Waranga North East Football Association, with a draw being established with the first round of matches taking place on Wednesday, 21 May 1913. Euroa is a town in the Shire of Strathbogie in the north-east of Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. At the 2021 Census in Australia, census, Euroa's population was 3,116. Montmorency Football Club is an Australian rules football club in Montmorency, Victoria, currently competing in Division 1 in the Northern Football League. History The club was formed in 1924 by Harold Hodgson and was originally based at Memorial Park, Greensborough. In 1925, the club relocated to its current home and joined the Diamond Valley Football League, where it competed until 1931 before going into recess. The Club was revived in 1936 and returned to the DVFL, where it has remained ever since. Montmorency won its first premiership in 1951, followed by a second premiership in 1954.
