Germany National Long Track Team
The Germany national long track team is the national longtrack motorcycle speedway team of Germany and is controlled by the Deutscher Motor Sport Bund (DMSB). History The German longtrack team are traditionally the strongest nation in the world, with many of their riders prioritising a career in longtrack instead of the popular conventional oval form of speedway. The first Individual Speedway Long Track World Championship was held in 1957 (known as the European Championship at the time) and the West German/German team won 16 of the first 40 individual titles from 1957 to 1996. Since the advent of the Grand Prix series in 1997 they have continued the success, winning another 16 titles up to the end of the 2023 season. Since the creation of the World Longtrack team championship in 2007, now called the ( FIM Long Track of Nations), Germany have won 9 of the 15 editions (up to the end of 2023). The German Motor Sport Federation ( or ''DMSB'', formerly known as or ''ONS'') is Germany's motor racing governing body. It represents Germany at Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, FIA and Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM. Martin Smolinski
Martin Smolinski (born 6 December 1984) is a German motorcycle speedway rider. He is three-times world longtrack champion and eight times champion of Germany. Personal life Smolinski was born on 6 December 1984 in Munich, West Germany. He is of Polish descent through his paternal grandfather from Katowice. Career Smolinksi began riding in his natiove Germany for MSC Olching. He became the German junior champion in 2003 and after reaching the final 2003 Speedway Under-21 World Championship he signed for Coventry Bees in England. Coventry retained him for the following two seasons and his form improved over the next two seasons. In 2006, he signed for his first Polish club Rybnik and in 2007 became the German Champion for the first time. Also in 2007, he won the league and cup double with Coventry during the 2007 Elite League speedway season. Robert Barth
Robert Barth (born 10 August 1968) is a German former motorcycle speedway rider. He is a four time champion of the world. Life Barth was born on born 10 August 1968. Career Barth won four Long Track World Championships, in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006. He also rode in the Speedway Grand Prix. Barth twice won the German Individual Speedway Championship 2001 and 2002. Barth was also a prominent grasstrack rider and won three European Championship titles in 1989, 1990 and 1994. The grasstrack championship merged with the Longtrack and Barth finished runner-up three times (1996, 1999 and 2000) before winning his world titles. Karl Maier (speedway Rider)
Karl Maier (born 24 August 1957) is a German former speedway rider. He competed in motorcycle speedway and Longtrack racing. He reached seventeen world longtrack championship finals and was world champion four times. He also earned 38 international caps for the West German national speedway team. Career Maier began his career in 1975 and soon established himself as one of the world's leading longtrack riders. He was crowned world longtrack champion for the first time after winning the 1980 Individual Long Track World Championship in Scheeßel, defeating Egon Müller into second place and taking Müller's place as Germany's longtrack hero. Max Dilger
Max Dilger (born 14 July 1989) is a motorcycle speedway and longtrack speedway rider from Germany. He earned 3 international caps for the German national speedway team. Career In 2006, Dilger started racing in Poland and rode for the Hungarian team Speedway Miskolc during the 2006 Polish speedway season. He would then spend two seasons with Łódź. In 2008, Dilger won the German Junior Championship and was nominated as a track reserve at 2008 Speedway Grand Prix of Germany, but was replaced by Kevin Wölbert. He started racing in the British leagues during the 2009 Premier League speedway season, when riding for the Edinburgh Monarchs. Also in 2009, Dilger rode for Kolejarz Opole in the Polish Speedway Second League. He would stay with both the Scottish club and Opole in 2010. 2022 Team Long Track World Championship
The 2022 FIM Long Track of Nations was the 14th annual FIM Team Long Track World Championship. The final took place on 26 May 2022 in Herxheim, Germany. The 2020 and 2021 events had been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Germany won the event for the ninth time, with two times individual world champion Erik Riss returning to the longtrack after a long break and gaining the crucial heat win in the final that saw Germany beat the Czech Republic by virtue of the race win. Michael Härtel
Michael Härtel (born 25 January 1998) is a German motorcycle rider. He competes in speedway, grasstrack and longtrack. He finished runner-up in the 2017 Longtrack World Championship. Career Härtel was born in Landshut, Germany and was the German Under 21 Champion on three occasions, in 2013, 2014 and 2015. He also started his longtrack career in 2015, competing in the World Longtrack Championship. In his first appearance he came third and his second saw his win a Vechta. In 2017, Härtel became a full competitor in the championship and took second overall. During the campaign he was third at Herxheim am Berg and Morizès, runner-up at La Réole and winner at Mühldorf.
