Frederikssund Line
Frederikssundbanen is one of six radial S-train lines in Copenhagen; it connects the city center with a number of Northwestern suburbs (notably Herlev and Ballerup) and other townships until Frederikssund on the Western coast of the Nordsjælland peninsula. History The Frederikssund line opened in 1879 as a single-track railway to Frederikssund from , which at that time was a station on the main line between Copenhagen and Roskilde. In 1911 the main line was moved to connect to the new (current) central station, and the Frederikssund line inside was replaced with a connecting line to . The old line between Frederiksberg and Vanløse had a quiet existence until April 3, 1934, when it became part of the first S-train line. Frederikssund
Frederikssund () is a Denmark, Danish town, seat of the Frederikssund Municipality, in the Capital Region of Denmark, Region Hovedstaden with a population of 17,583 (1 January 2025).BY3: Population 1. Flintholm Station
Flintholm station is an S-train and Metro interchange junction station in Copenhagen, Denmark. It opened on 24 January 2004, and it is located in the west of Copenhagen where the Frederikssund S-train Line crosses the S-train Ring Line. It is located in fare zone 2. The station has two levels. On the lower level the Ring Line runs roughly north–south with side platforms (tracks 11 and 12). On the upper level, tracks on Frederikssund Line and the Metro run on bridge constructions with a center platform for each above the ring line tracks. The bridges continue west of the station, above a bus terminal and the street ''Grøndals Parkvej'' towards Vanløse station. A large monumental glass roof covers all the tracks and the bus terminal. The design of the station has earned it various awards, among others the European Steel Design Awards. Peter Bangs Vej Station
Peter Bangs Vej station is an S-train railway station serving the western part of the district of Frederiksberg in Copenhagen, Denmark. The station is located on the Frederikssundbanen, Frederikssund radial of S-train (Copenhagen), Copenhagen's S-train network. The station, located where the railway line crosses the street Peter Bangs Vej, was designed by the Danish State Railways architect Knud Tanggaard Seest and opened on 23 September 1941. The station was made famous in 2001, shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York, for being the location from where an emergency 112 call was made and in which Danish Police failed to respond. Valby Station
Valby station is a main line and S-train railway station serving the district of Valby in Copenhagen, Denmark. The station is located in the central part of the district where one of its main arteries Toftegårds Allé crosses the railway line. It is located in a highly populated area, close to the location of the historic village of Valby. Valby station is one of the most used stations in Copenhagen, and hence regional trains and some intercity trains also stop here. It's an important railway junction, where the Tåstrup and Frederikssund radials of the S-train network diverge, and is served by trains on or from either radial. Several express buses to Jutland also terminate and depart from this station. Carlsberg Station
Carlsberg station () is an S-train station in Copenhagen, Denmark, that serves the Carlsberg area of the Vesterbro/Kongens Enghave district. Situated on the Høje Taastrup radial of the S-train network, it opened on 3 July 2016 and replaced Enghave station, which was located 200m east. History The station was designed by Gottlieb Paludan Architects and constructed for the Carlsberg Byen development company between 2014 and 2016, before being handed over to Banedanmark and DSB for operation. It serves the new residential and retail developments on the former Carlsberg brewery site, as well as the adjacent University College Capital campus; it is expected to become one of the five busiest S-train stations in Copenhagen, with approximately 24,000 travellers per day. It is located on the site of the brewery's freight depot, Station Høje, which was in operation from 1937 until 1985. Vestbanen (S-tog)
One of the six S-train radial lines in Copenhagen runs along the long-distance tracks on Vestbanen (the railway towards Roskilde and beyond) and provides local train service on its inner parts. The S-trains end at Høje Taastrup about 20 km west of the city centre. History The railway from Copenhagen to Roskilde was opened in 1847 as the first railway in Denmark. The Copenhagen terminus was moved in 1864 and the approaches inside the current Hvidovre station were moved. In 1911 the central station moved back almost to its original site, and the old alignment was reinstated. In 1934 one of the three main tracks between København H and Valby was electrified for S-trains. A second S-train track was also built between København H and just before Enghave; between those two tracks was the maintenance depot for S-train until the current depot at Taastrup opened in 1968.
