Flintholm Station
Flintholm station is an S-train and Metro interchange junction station in Copenhagen, Denmark. It opened on 24 January 2004, and it is located in the west of Copenhagen where the Frederikssund S-train Line crosses the S-train Ring Line. It is located in fare zone 2. The station has two levels. On the lower level the Ring Line runs roughly north–south with side platforms (tracks 11 and 12). On the upper level, tracks on Frederikssund Line and the Metro run on bridge constructions with a center platform for each above the ring line tracks. The bridges continue west of the station, above a bus terminal and the street ''Grøndals Parkvej'' towards Vanløse station. A large monumental glass roof covers all the tracks and the bus terminal. The design of the station has earned it various awards, among others the European Steel Design Awards. See also: List of Copenhagen S-train lines There are 87 stations that are operated in normal operation on the Copenhagen S-train, an urban rail network which serves the Copenhagen metropolitan area in Denmark. The stations are located on six suburban radial routes - A (S-train), A, B (S-train), B, Bx (S-train), Bx, C (S-train), C, E (S-train), E, H (S-train), H, and a ring line (F (S-train), F). Forty-six are elevated, twenty-one are street level, fifteen are below street, four have different levels and one is underground. Vanløse is one of the 10 official districts of Copenhagen Municipality, Denmark. It lies on the western border of the municipality. Vanløse covers an area of 6.69 km2, and has a population of 36,115, making Vanløse the smallest district of Copenhagen, by population. Ringbanen () is an S-train line in Copenhagen. Its route is roughly semicircular, running around the central part of Copenhagen and connecting the S-train radials about 5 km out. History The ring line started as a freight bypass railway. In 1900 Copenhagen had a central station situated just inside ''Skt Jørgens Sø'', from which railways went towards Roskilde (via ) and (via ''Nørrebro'', not the current station but where ''Nørrebroparken'' is now). A connecting line directly from Nørrebro to Frederiksberg was used by transiting freight, in order to relieve the central station which had been pushing its capacity limit for decades. Frederikssundbanen
Frederikssundbanen is one of six radial S-train lines in Copenhagen; it connects the city center with a number of Northwestern suburbs (notably Herlev and Ballerup) and other townships until Frederikssund on the Western coast of the Nordsjælland peninsula. History The Frederikssund line opened in 1879 as a single-track railway to Frederikssund from , which at that time was a station on the main line between Copenhagen and Roskilde.
