Football Club Prishtina (, ), commonly known as Prishtina, is a professional football club based in Pristina, Kosovo. The club plays in the Football Superleague of Kosovo. It is the most successful domestic club. History The club was founded in 1922 under the name Kosova. Later on their name changed to Proleter, Jedinstvo, Kosovo and finally Prishtina. 1922–1926: Beginnings of FC Prishtina (Football Club Kosovo) Football in Kosovo has been played and developed since 1919, shortly after the end of the First World War. Fadil Vokrri Stadium
The Fadil Vokrri Stadium (), previously known as Pristina City Stadium (), is a multi-purpose stadium in Pristina, Kosovo, which is used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FC Prishtina and the Kosovo national football team. The stadium has a capacity of 13,980. History The stadium's construction began in 1951 and completed in 1953. It has been used by FC Prishtina since then. On 9 June 2018, the stadium was renamed from Pristina City Stadium to Fadil Vokrri Stadium, following the death of Fadil Vokrri on the same day, who was a football administrator, player and lastly president of Football Federation of Kosovo. Fadil Avdullah Vokrri (23 July 1960 – 9 June 2018) was a Kosovan football administrator and formerly Yugoslav player. Arguably one of the greatest Kosovan footballers, he was the president of the Football Federation of Kosovo from 16 February 2008 until his death on 9 June 2018. Early life Born in Podujevë, SFR Yugoslavia (modern Kosovo) to ethnic Albanian parents, Vokrri was known for his Diego Maradona-like approach with quick movement and strong shooting (where he established his strong shooting reputation at FC Prishtina). He won a number of international caps for the former Yugoslavia in the mid-1980s and was unlucky to not win more caps where he was one of Yugoslavia's favourite football talents. Agim Cana (born 29 September 1956) is a Kosovan former professional association football, footballer who played as a midfielder. He represented Yugoslavia national football team, Yugoslavia internationally at youth level. Personal life Cana was born in Đakovica, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Yugoslavia (modern-day Gjakova, Kosovo) on 29 September 1956, to a Kosovo Albanians, Kosovar Albanian family.
