Ileana Espinel
Ileana Espinel Cedeño (October 31, 1933 – February 21, 2001) was an Ecuadorian journalist, poet and writer. She was born and died in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Her pen name was Ileana Espinal. Biography Born in Guayaquil on October 31, 1933, Espinel's father was Jorge Espinel Barreiro, who worked at the Customs department and later owned a pharmacy. Her father died prematurely in 1945 when she was 13 years old. Her mother was Professor Bertha Cedeño Chica. At the age of 10 Espinel would already write verses, and even helped her mother correct her students' theses. In 1950, she graduated from high school and began studying in the School of Journalism, but she dropped out after a year and a half due to liver illness. In 1953 she found in her home an old, tearing booklet of the celebrated poem “Como el Incensio” (Like Incense) by Aurora Estrada y Ayala, with a dedication made to her mother. Luis Fernando Espinel Lalama (born 30 June 1967) is an Ecuadorian football manager and former player. He is the current manager of Búhos ULVR. Coaching career Born in Quito, Espinel was Sixto Vizuete's assistant at the Ecuador national team, the Ecuador under-20 national team and El Nacional before being named manager of Imbabura in the Serie B in October 2012. He left the post nearly one month later, however. Espinel was in charge of LDU Portoviejo during the 2013 campaign, and was appointed manager of Macará in January 2014. He left the club in April, and returned to Imbabura in November for the last three rounds of the season; he narrowly avoided relegation with the club, and left in December 2015 after a comfortable mid-table finish. Mauricio Esteban Rodas Espinel (born 15 April 1975) is an Ecuadorian lawyer, social policy consultant, and politician who served as the Metropolitan Mayor of Quito between May 2014 and May 2019. After working in other Latin American cities, including Mexico City, he returned to Ecuador to enter politics. He founded the SUMA Party, and was the youngest person every to be elected as Mayor of Quito. Early life, education and marriage Born in Quito on April 15, 1975. Vicente Espinel
Vicente Gómez Martínez-Espinel (; 28 December 15504 February 1624) was a Spanish writer and musician of the Siglo de Oro. He is credited with the creation of the modern poetic form of the '' décima'', composed of ten octameters, named '' espinela'' in Spanish after him. Biography Espinel was born in Ronda. He studied at the University of Salamanca, where he adopted as his own his father's second surname, and later on at the universities of Granada and Alcalá. As a latinist, he translated to Spanish Horace's ''Epistola ad Pisones''. After leaving university, he had an adventurous life as a soldier, serving in Flanders and elsewhere. He was a prisoner of pirates at Argel and a soldier in Italy after being liberated, and returned to Spain about 1584. Afterwards, he moved to Madrid and took holy orders in 1589. Victoria Angelica Espinel (born October 16, 1968) is the president and chief executive of the software industry trade group BSA (The Software Alliance). Prior to this, she was the United States Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator for the White House, housed in the Office of Management and Budget. She was appointed to the position by Barack Obama on September 25, 2009, and her appointment was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 3, 2009. She stepped down in August 2013.
