Luis Espinel
Luis Fernando Espinel Lalama (born 30 June 1967) is an Ecuadorian football manager and former player. He is the current manager of Búhos ULVR. Coaching career Born in Quito, Espinel was Sixto Vizuete's assistant at the Ecuador national team, the Ecuador under-20 national team and El Nacional before being named manager of Imbabura in the Serie B in October 2012. He left the post nearly one month later, however. Espinel was in charge of LDU Portoviejo during the 2013 campaign, and was appointed manager of Macará in January 2014. He left the club in April, and returned to Imbabura in November for the last three rounds of the season; he narrowly avoided relegation with the club, and left in December 2015 after a comfortable mid-table finish. Named at the helm of Manta for the 2016 campaign, Espinel left the club in August. The Liga Pro Betcris, simply known as the Liga Pro, or the Serie A, is a professional football league in Ecuador. At the top of the Ecuadorian football league system, it is the country's premier football competition. Contested by sixteen clubs, it operates a system of promotion and relegation with the Serie B, the lower level of the Primera Categoría. The season runs from February to December and is usually contested in multiple stages. The main sponsor is Betcris and it is known as Liga Pro Betcris. While initially not a league, the Serie A has its roots in the national championship between the top teams of Ecuador's two regional leagues. The Primera Categoría Serie B, shortened to Serie B or Primera B, is a professional football league in Ecuador. It is in the second tier of the Ecuadorian football league system. Currently contested by ten clubs, it operates a system of promotion and relegation with the top-flight Serie A and the bottom-level Segunda Categoría. The season runs from February to December in two stages. For sponsorship reasons, it is known as the LigaPro Banco Pichincha Pymes. Serie B has been in place since 1971 and has been held on a yearly basis since (except 1973 and 1983–88), often holding two tournaments a year.
