Eddie Dombrower
Eddie Dombrower (born 1957) is an American video game designer, programmer, and producer. He co-created the baseball games '' Earl Weaver Baseball'' and ''Intellivision World Series Baseball''. He also designed the first dance notation computer software, ''DOM''. Dombrower studied dance and mathematics at Pomona College in Claremont, California. After graduating, he considered the possibility that the new microcomputer technology might provide a method by which choreography could be annotated and recorded for display in animated graphic form. He created the "DOM (for the first three letters of his surname) system" on an Apple II computer in 1981/1982. It allowed Choreography, choreographers to use a system of codes to record their work. Intellivision
The Intellivision (a portmanteau of intelligent television) is a home video game console released by Mattel Electronics in 1979. It distinguished itself from competitors with more realistic sports and strategic games. By 1981, Mattel Electronics had close to 20% of the domestic video game market, selling more than 3.75 million consoles and 20 million cartridges through 1983. At its peak Mattel Electronics had about 1800 employees in several countries, including 110 videogame developers. ''Computer Gaming World'' (CGW) was an American Video game journalism, computer game magazine that was published between 1981 and 2006. One of the few magazines of the era to survive the video game crash of 1983, it was sold to Ziff Davis in 1993. It expanded greatly through the 1990s and became one of the largest dedicated video game magazines, reaching around 500 pages by 1997. In the early 2000s its circulation was about 300,000, only slightly behind the market leader ''PC Gamer''. Earl Weaver
Earl Sidney Weaver (August 14, 1930 – January 19, 2013) was an American professional baseball manager, author, and television broadcaster. After playing in minor league baseball, he retired without playing in Major League Baseball (MLB). He became a minor league manager, and then managed in MLB for 17 years with the Baltimore Orioles (1968–1982; 1985–86), winning a World Series championship in 1970. Weaver's style of managing was summed up in the quote: "pitching, defense, and the three-run homer." He did not believe in placing emphasis on "small ball" tactics such as stolen bases, hit and run plays, or sacrifice bunts, though these views developed somewhat over time.
