Dow Championship
The Dow Championship is a women's professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour that is played in Michigan. A new event in 2019, it is held at Midland Country Club in Midland, Michigan. It is a team event, similar to the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on the PGA Tour, with alternate shot ( foursome) in the first and third rounds and better ball ( fourball) for the second and fourth rounds. Dow Chemical Company is the title sponsor. The 2020 edition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For the 2021 edition, the purse was increased to $2.3 million, with the first-place team splitting $559,000. For 2022, the purse was increased to $2.5 million, with the first-place team splitting $603,172. Midland, Michigan
Midland is a city in Midland County, Michigan, United States, and its county seat. The population was 42,547 at the 2020 census. It is the principal city of the Midland metropolitan statistical area, part of the larger Saginaw-Midland-Bay City combined statistical area. The 2020 LPGA Tour was the 71st edition of the LPGA Tour, a series of professional golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world. The season began at the Four Season Golf Club in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, on January 16 and ended on December 20 at the Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida. Moriya Jutanugarn
Moriya Jutanugarn (; ; born 28 July 1994) is a Thai professional golfer. In 2009, Jutanugarn became the first female to win the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy. In 2013, she was named LPGA Rookie of the Year. She has played on the LPGA Tour since 2013. Her sister, Ariya, also plays on the LPGA Tour. Ariya Jutanugarn (, , ; born 23 November 1995) is a Thai professional golfer who plays on the American-based LPGA Tour. She was born in Bangkok. She is the first golfer, male or female, from Thailand to win a major championship. She became the number one ranked golfer in the Women's World Golf Rankings in June 2017. Lizette Salas (born July 17, 1989) is an American professional golfer currently playing on the LPGA Tour. Early life and education Born and raised in Azusa, California, Salas graduated from Azusa High School in 2007 and went on to play college golf at the University of Southern California, where she graduated in 2011 with a degree in sociology. Jennifer Anne Kupcho (born May 14, 1997) is an American professional golfer. Amateur career As a junior at Wake Forest University, she was named the winner of the Honda Sports Award for golf. As a senior, Kupcho won the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur in 2019. She also won the 2018 NCAA Division I Golf Championship. Elizabeth Szokol
Elizabeth Nicole Szokol (born June 17, 1995) is an American professional golfer and LPGA Tour member. Early life, college and amateur career Szokol grew up in Winnetka, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. An injury-prone athlete, she experienced her first knee surgery at age 12 after playing softball and tennis. The injury downtime helped her discover golf, which she took up at 14.
