History On September 23, 2020, Evelyn Magley, CEO of The Basketball League (TBL), announced a new franchise called the Detroit Hustle of Detroit, Michigan, and owned by Curtis Lee for the 2021 season. The Basketball League (TBL), formerly North America Premier Basketball (NAPB), is a minor league basketball organization. The league began operating in North America in 2018 with eight teams, and expanded to over 44 teams as of 2022. The Basketball League is a professional basketball league providing player salaries from $500 to $6,500 per month, while teams operate on a budget of $125,000 to $250,000 per season. Albany Patroons
The Albany Patroons are a professional basketball team that plays in The Basketball League (TBL). Previously, the team competed in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and in the United States Basketball League (USBL). The Patroons won CBA championships in 1984 and 1988 as well as a TBL championship in 2019. Formed in 1982, the Patroons' original home arena was the Washington Avenue Armory, a former New York National Guard armory. The team later moved from this location to MVP Arena, then known as the Knickerbocker Arena. The franchise was renamed the Capital Region Pontiacs in 1992 and was relocated to Connecticut in 1993.
