''Da Crime Family'' is the fifth studio album by New Orleans hip-hop group, TRU, released June 1, 1999, via Priority Records and Master P's No Limit Records. It was produced by Beats By the Pound, Ke'Noe, Meech Wells and Battlecat. ''Da Crime Family'' debuted at #5 and peaked on the ''Billboard'' 200 and #2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, selling over 139,000 copies in its first week. The album was held from the #1 position on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums by Ja Rule's '' Venni Vetti Vecci''. ''Da Crime Family'' contains the lead single " Hoody Hooo" which made it to #11 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks. TRU (band)
TRU (an abbreviation of The Real Untouchables) was an American Hip hop music, hip hop group, with members from New Orleans, Louisiana and Richmond, California, Richmond, California, active from 1989 to 2005. Between 1992 and 1997 the band dwindled from a dozen members to just the main three brothers, Master P, C-Murder, and Silkk the Shocker. The group released six albums, incorporating the typical No Limit Records, No Limit formula of G-funk rhythms married to hardcore Gangsta rap, gangsta lyrics. Master P
Percy Robert Miller (born April 29, 1967), better known by his stage name Master P, is an American rapper, record producer, record executive, dancer, actor and entrepreneur. He founded the record label No Limit Records in 1991, which was relaunched into the spin-off labels New No Limit Records and No Limit Forever Records. Miller gained fame in the mid-1990s as a member of the label's Hip-hop, hip hop group TRU (group), TRU, as well as his fifth solo album, ''Ice Cream Man (album), Ice Cream Man'' (1996), and its Mr. Ice Cream Man, namesake lead single. McKinley Phipps, Jr. (born July 30, 1977), better known simply as Mac, is an American rapper from New Orleans' 3rd Ward. He began rapping as a child, releasing his debut album ''The Lyrical Midget'' at the age of 13 in 1990, under the stage name ''Lil Mac''. Mac would eventually sign with Master P's No Limit Records and would grow to be one of the most critically acclaimed artists on the label, both as a solo rapper and as a member of the super group 504 Boyz. Mac released two solo albums and one album as part of the 504 Boyz on No Limit, including 1998's Shell Shocked, which peaked at No. 11 on the US ''Billboard'' 200. In 2001, Mac was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 30 years in prison at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in Louisiana, and was released on parole on June 22, 2021, after serving 20 years of his sentence. Full Blooded (also known as Da Hound) is an American rapper formerly signed to Master P's No Limit Records in the late 1990s. Full Blooded made his debut in 1998 on C-Murder's debut album '' Life or Death'' on the song titled "On The Run" and on the song titled "Ghetto Ties". He would continue to make guest appearances on several No Limit albums before releasing his debut album ''Memorial Day'' on December 1, 1998. Unlike most No Limit albums, ''Memorial Day'' was a commercial disappointment, only reaching number 112 on the ''Billboard'' 200.
