Charles Kent Wilson (born January 29, 1953), also known as Uncle Charlie, is an American Singer, Songwriter, and Record Producer who served as lead vocalist for the Gap Band from its 1967 formation until its 2010 disbandment. As a solo act, Wilson has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards and 11 NAACP Image Awards (including two wins), received a 2009 Soul Train Icon Award, and was a recipient of a BMI Icon Award in 2005. In 2009 and 2020, he was named ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' magazine's No. 1 Adult R&B Artist, and his song "There Goes My Baby (Charlie Wilson song), There Goes My Baby" was named the No. 1 Urban Adult Song for 2009 in ''Billboard''. Stavernfestivalen is an annual music festival held in the month of July, in Stavern, Norway, at the Larvik Golf Arena. The first-ever Stavernfestivalen festival took place in 2001, with 175 attendees. The following year, the festival was organised over two days, and in 2011, for three days. By 2019, approximately 75,000 people attended the celebration of music. Relocation to the Larvik Golf Arena Up until 2014, the festival was arranged at Skråvika near Minnehallen in Stavern. In 2015, it relocated to the Larvik Golf Arena – a much larger, more spacious area where the organisers could focus on further developing and improving the overall experience. ''We Too Are One'' is the seventh studio album by British pop duo Eurythmics, released on 11 September 1989 by RCA Records. It would be the duo's last studio release until 1999's ''Peace''. Background and release When it was released in 1989, the album debuted at number one in the United Kingdom, where it has since been certified double platinum. Eurythmics were a British New wave music, new wave duo formed in 1980, consisting of Scottish vocalist Annie Lennox and English musician and producer Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), Dave Stewart. They were both previously in the Tourists, a band that broke up in 1980. They released their first studio album, ''In the Garden (Eurythmics album), In the Garden'', in 1981 to little success, but achieved global acclaim with their second album, ''Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) (album), Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)'' (1983). Roger Troutman
Roger Lynch Troutman Jr. (November 29, 1951 – April 25, 1999), also known simply as Roger, was an American singer, musician, songwriter, and record producer. He was the founder of the band Zapp who helped spearhead the funk movement and influenced West Coast hip hop due to the scene's heavy sampling of his music. Troutman frequently used the talk box, a device that is connected to an instrument (frequently a keyboard, but most commonly a guitar) to create different vocal effects. Troutman used a custom-made talkbox—the Electro Harmonix "Golden Throat"—through a Moog Minimoog and later in his career a Yamaha DX100 FM synthesizer. As both band leader of Zapp and in his subsequent solo releases, he scored a bevy of funk and R&B hits throughout the 1980s and regularly collaborated with hip hop artists in the 1990s. "Computer Love" is a song performed by American funk band Zapp, issued as the fourth and final single from their fourth studio album ''The New Zapp IV U''. Featuring vocals by Shirley Murdock and Charlie Wilson and written by Murdock, Zapp Band leader Roger Troutman and his brother Larry Troutman, the single peaked at number 8 on the ''Billboard'' R&B chart in 1986. Background In an interview with Wilson, the song's idea was presented to him by Troutman, during a particular phone call around 3 am. A music video was also discussed between Roger and Charlie for the single. However, this did not come to fruition, due to opposition from the label that Wilson was signed to at the time. Zapp (also known as the Zapp Band, Zapp & Roger) is an American funk band that emerged from Dayton, Ohio, United States, in 1977. Particularly influential in the electro subgenre of funk, Zapp were known for their trademark use of the talk-box effect. The original line-up consisted of four Troutman brothers—frontman Roger, Larry, Lester and Terry—first cousin, Sherman Fleetwood—and non-Troutman family members Bobby Glover, Gregory Jackson, Jerome Derrickson, Eddie Barber, Jannetta Boyce and Shirley Murdock. The Church Studio
The Church Studio is a recording studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma established in 1972 by musician, songwriter, and producer Leon Russell. Located in a converted church building, the studio has since been cited as being the heart of the Tulsa Sound. History Originally built in 1915 as Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, the stone structure located at 304 South Trenton Avenue in Tulsa's Pearl District was converted to a recording studio in 1972 by Leon Russell, who bought the building and adjoining properties for his diverse recording activities and as a home for Shelter Records, the company he had previously started with partner Denny Cordell.
