Corner Conference (Iowa)
The Corner Conference is a high school athletic conference based in Southwestern Iowa. All members are in Class 1A (the smallest schools in Iowa). Members History * In 1953, original 6 members Farragut, Sidney, Hamburg, Essex, Malvern, and Tabor form the Corner Conference. * In 1959, Tabor merged with Bartlett, Randolph, and Thurman to become Fremont–Mills. Iowa High School Athletic Association
The Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) is the regulating body for male Iowa high school interscholastic athletics and is a full member of the National Federation of State High School Associations. Its female counterpart, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, (IGHSAU) is an associate member. Iowa is the only state that maintains separate governing bodies for boys' and girls' athletics. Sports overseen by the IHSAA are baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and wrestling. Southwest Valley High School is rural, public high school located in Corning, Iowa, United States. The school was renamed after Corning Community Schools and Villisca Community Schools entered into a whole-grade sharing agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Corning is responsible for the education of grades 9-12 and administration of all high school athletics. The Hawkeye 10 Conference is a high school athletic conference in Iowa made up of larger-mid-size schools in Southwest Iowa. Most members participate at the 3A level in all sports, which is the second highest level of competition in Iowa. Saint Albert Catholic Schools is a private, Roman Catholic K-12 school in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States. Saint Albert's mascot is a falcon for the boys, while the girls are known as the saintes. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Des Moines. The Pride of Iowa Conference (POI ) is a high school athletic conference made up of 10 small schools in southern Iowa, United States. Current members Mount Ayr shares a football team with Diagonal. Nodaway Valley shares a football team with Orient-Macksburg. History The conference was founded in 1987 with six schools: I-35, Wayne, Central Decatur, Mt. Ayr, Southeast Warren, and East Union. For the first 13 years of its history, the conference was quite small and compact. The Western Iowa Conference is a high school athletic conference made up of bigger 1A and smaller 2A schools located mostly in the greater Council Bluffs area. The teams in the conference have a deep-rooted history together. Most of the schools have been with the conference throughout its history.
