Collignoniceratidae
Collignoniceratidae is a family of Upper Cretaceous ammonites characterized by typically more or less evolute shells with compressed, oval, or square whorl sections; serrate or entire keels; and dense ribs with one to 5 tubercles. Taxonomy This family, named by Wright and Wright in 1951, is divided into four subfamilies; Collignoniceratinae, Barroisiceratinae, Peroniceratinae, and Texanitinae. The family is included in the large ammonitid superfamily Acanthoceratoidea which lasted until the end of the Cretaceous. The Collignoniceratidae are derived from the Acanthoceratidae, first appearing early in the Turonian (early U Cret) and lasting until the mid Campanian (late U Cret), a span of some 20 million years Collignoniceratidae Wright & Wright, 1951 (synonyms - Prionocyclidae Breistroffer, 1947; Prionotropidae Zittel, 1865) *Subfamily Barroisiceratinae Basse, 1947 **Genus ''Barroisiceras'' de Grossouvre, 1894 **Genus ''Forresteria'' (Reeside, 1932) **Genus '' Solgerites'' Re ...

Cibolaites
The genus ''Cibolaites'' is a strongly ribbed and nodose ammonoid cephalopod from the middle Cretaceous of western New Mexico, included in the taxonomic family Collignoniceratidae. A single species ''Cibolaites molenaari'' is known. Description ''Cibolaites'' is a moderate-sized, somewhat involute genus, with a moderate umbilicus, that bears broad rounded ribs on the flanks which bifurcate from the umbilical shoulder on larger specimens. Whorl section is broadest though the umbilical shoulders, flanks converge moderately on a broadly rounded venter. which bears three rows of distinct, commonly elongate, nodes. (Plate 2, figs 1–9, Cobban and Hook, 1983). The suture is ammonitic but relatively simple with generally rounded, cauliform, elements. (Fig 14, p. 17, Cobban and Hook, 1983). ''Cibolaites'' is similar to the Coniacian '' Barroisiceras'' which differ in having smaller umbilici and crenulate keels. History and classification ''Cibolaites'' was discovered in lower Turo ...

Barroisiceras
''Barroisiceras'' is an acanthoceratacean ammonite from the Upper Cretaceous, Coniacian, included in the family Collignoniceratidae. Diagnosis The shell of ''Barroisiceras'' is rather involute, coiled such that the outer whorl embraces much of the previous, and is generally compressed. Whorls are high with a strong crenulate keel and sparse umbilical tubercles that develop into pairs of commonly flat ribs. Taxonomy ''Barroisiceras'' is divided two subgenera, ''Barroisiceras (Barroisiceras)'' and ''Barroisiceras (Texasia)'',with '' Alstadenites'' sometimes added as a third, ''Barroisiceras (Alstadenites)''. ''B. (Barroiciceras)'' is moderately involute and the suture is rather simple. ''B. (Texasia)'' is more evolute and has a distinctly eccentric umbilicus and more complex suture. Distribution Cretaceous of Austria, Czechoslovakia, France, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Slovakia, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago and USSR References ;Notes ;Bibliography * Arkell ''et al.'', 1957. ...

Collignoniceras
''Collignociceras'' is a strongly ribbed and tuberculate, evolute ammonite from the Turonian of the western U.S. and Europe belonging to the ammonitid family Collignoniceratidae. The genus is named after the French paleontologist Maurice Collignon. The type is ''Collignoniceras woollgari'', named by Mantell in 1822 for specimens from Sussex, England. The shell is compressed in early growth stages, with rounded or high and clavate siphonal tubercles tending to form a serrate keel, straight or slightly sinuous ribs and weak umbilical and strong ventrolateral tubercles. later whorls tend to be squarer in section with exaggerated ventrolateral tubercles. Two subspecies are known from the Turonian of western North America, ''C. woollgari wooolgari'' and ''C. woollgari regulari''. ''C. w. woollgari'' has been found with '' Mammites depressus'' at the top of the lower shale tongue and lowermost overlying Tres Hermanos sandstone member of the Mancos Shale in New Mexico, in a shale bed ...
