Coalition for Change ( ka, კოალიცია ცვლილებისთვის, tr) (sometimes stylized as Coalition 4 Change) is an informal political coalition of pro-Western liberal political parties in Georgia. The coalition includes Ahali, Girchi – More Freedom, Droa, and Republican parties and Activists for the Future movement. It was created prior to the 2024 parliamentary election, in which it received 11.03% of the popular vote. History On 9 July 2024, Ahali, Girchi – More Freedom, and Droa announced the formation of an electoral coalition with the latter two parties already being in an alliance with each other since 2023. Lelo for Georgia was expected to join as well, however, it pulled out at the last second with the parties citing minor differences. Nika Gvaramia
Nika Gvaramia ( ka, ნიკა გვარამია; born June 29, 1976) is a Georgian lawyer, media entrepreneur, public figure, who had held posts of Minister of Justice and Minister of Education and Science. He was the Director General of Rustavi 2 and Mtavari Arkhi and he was founder of Mtavari Arkhi, an opposition television network. On March 11, he co-founded the political party Ahali (which translates to "new" in Georgian) and alliance Coalition for Change alongside other opposition figure Nika Melia. In the 2024 Georgian parliamentary election, the alliance finished on 2nd place, becoming the leading opposition grouping. Early life Gvaramia was born on June 29, 1976, in Sukhumi, currently the de-facto capital of Abkhazia. Ahali (; ) is a liberal, pro-European political party in Georgia. It was founded in 2024 by Nika Melia, former chairman of the United National Movement, and Nika Gvaramia, former CEO of the Rustavi 2 TV channel and Mtavari Arkhi TV channel. It was a part of the Coalition for Change political alliance for the 2024 parliamentary election, receiving 10 seats in the Georgian parliament.
