Clarrie Grimmett
Clarence Victor "Clarrie" Grimmett (25 December 1891 – 2 May 1980) was a New Zealand-born Australian cricketer. He is thought by many to be one of the finest early spin bowlers, and usually credited as the developer of the flipper. Early life in New Zealand Grimmett was born in Caversham, Dunedin, New Zealand, on Christmas Day 1891, leading Bill O'Reilly to say that he "must have been the best Christmas present Australia ever received from that country." A schoolmaster encouraged him to concentrate on spin bowling rather than fast bowling. He played club cricket in Wellington, and made his first-class debut for Wellington at the age of 17. Clarence Wilfred 'Clarrie' Fahy (1898–1963) was an Australian rugby league administrator in the pioneer days of the St. George District Rugby league Football Club and later with the NSWRFL. Administrative career and war service Clarrie Fahy was born in Sydney on 23 March 1898 and he went on to become St. George's third Hon. Secretary, a hard and effective worker, that held a great feeling for the club. His involvement in Australian rugby league pre-dated St. George. He played with the Banksia Waratahs before World War One, he then served in the great War and linked with Saints in 1922. Fahy became the Third Grade Secretary in 1926, then took over from Reg Fusedale as Club Secretary in 1938. He stayed as Club Secretary until 1944 then he was elected a Vice-president of the NSWRFL in the same year during his service in World War Two. Clarence Percival "Clarrie" Polson was a New Zealand rugby league player who represented New Zealand. He debuted for New Zealand in 1920 and became Kiwi number 143. Personal life Clarrie Polson was born Clarence Percival Polson on 27 July 1900. His parents were Catherine (Kate) Polson (1860-1938), and Ole (Oliver) Polson (1856-1915). Clarence Lloyd "Clarrie" Lethlean (12 July 1900 – 18 July 1969) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne and Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Football Lethlean, who started his career at Oakleigh, made nine appearances for Melbourne in the 1921 VFL season. Clarence Joseph Nolan (24 August 1904 – 18 January 1998) was an Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Nolan, was a Benalla and Shepparton recruit, who joined North Melbourne in 1925 and took part in their inaugural VFL season. He was North Melbourne's leading goal-kicker in 1928 with 24 goals, despite not registering his first goal until round nine.
