Circus Herman Renz
Circus Herman Renz is the largest circus in the Netherlands, and has been touring the Netherlands and other countries since 1911. History decided in the winter of 1911 to start his own circus. The first artist he contracted was his friend Tom Mix. In 1923 Arnold changed the name of the circus to "Renz". During World War II it was difficult for the circus to survive, and because of the circumstances it was forced to give shows for Nazi Germany. After the war, the circus returned to normal shows. Arnold van der Vegt died in 1955. (Arnold van der Vegt is not related to Ernst Jacob Renz, Berlin 1842 or Renz International). After the death of Arnold van der Vegt, his son Herman Sr. took over management of the circus. In 1970 he transferred the running of the circus to his sons, Paul and Arnold Jr. (also known as Nol). Center Parcs Europe N.V. (formerly Center Parcs) is a European network of holiday villages that was founded in the Netherlands in 1968, and is currently operated by Pierre & Vacances. History Dutch entrepreneur Piet Derksen started a sporting goods shop in 1953 at Lijnbaan, Rotterdam. Its name was 'Sporthuis Centrum', 'Sport House Centre'. It succeeded and Derksen expanded into 17 outlets across the Netherlands, and then added camping articles to the range. In 1968, Derksen purchased woodland near Reuver so staff and customers could relax in small tents. The park, , was successful, and the tents were soon replaced with bungalows. Jaap Pop
Jacobus Johannes Hermanus (Jaap) Pop (born 23 June 1941, Alphen aan den Rijn) is a former Dutch politician. Pop is a member of the Labour Party. Early life Pop was born as one of three sons in 1941 in Alphen aan den Rijn. His father is Herman Pop who was a member of the Christian Historical Union party and served as mayor of Dinteloord between 1946 and 1973. Pop went on to study jurisprudence in Utrecht. Career Pop served as mayor of several cities between 1975 and 2006. Pop succeeded Jan Dijkstra as mayor of Franeker in 1975. In 1981 he became the mayor of Tiel and he served in that position until 1988. He was the mayor of Alkmaar between 1988 and 1995. In 1995 he succeeded Elizabeth Schmitz as mayor of Haarlem. Guilder is the English translation of the Dutch and German ''gulden'', originally shortened from Middle High German ''guldin pfenninc'' (" gold penny"). This was the term that became current in the southern and western parts of the Holy Roman Empire for the Fiorino d'oro (introduced in 1252 in the Republic of Florence). Zorgvlied () is a cemetery on the in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on the left bank of the river Amstel.
