Chullora Railway Workshops
Chullora Railway Workshops were a major workshops for the repair and heavy maintenance of locomotives and rolling stock for the New South Wales Government Railways. It was built on site at Chullora over 485 acres adjoining the main Sydney marshalling yards at Enfield. Electric Carriage Workshops
The Electric Carriage Workshops, often abbreviated to Elcar, was the principal maintenance centre for the New South Wales Government Railways electric multiple unit fleet. Construction commenced in 1922, coinciding with the electrification of the Sydney network. It was located within the Chullora Railway Workshops complex on a site. The UGL Rail C44ACi (also designated as C44aci or C44ACI) is a model of Australian heavy duty diesel electric locomotive designed by UGL Rail and built at the Broadmeadow factory. Chullora, a suburb in the City of Canterbury-Bankstown local government area, is located 15 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. The suburb is entirely industrial and commercial, and in the 2021 census recorded a population of 14.
