Al Checchi
Alfred Attilio Checchi (born June 6, 1948) is an American businessman who was a candidate for Governor of California in the 1998 gubernatorial election, losing to fellow Democrat Gray Davis in the June 1998 primary. Checchi finished in second place in the Democratic primary, capturing 12.49% of the vote. He ran as a New Democrat and called for increased spending on education. He set a new record at the time for spending in a California gubernatorial race, spending over $40 million of his personal fortune. Checchi had previously enjoyed success in various business ventures, most notably serving as co-chairman of Northwest Airlines. He attended the Harvard School of Business. Valerio Checchi (born Subiaco, Lazio, 3 April 1980) is an Italian cross-country skier who has competed since 1999. He has two World Cup victories with one in 2006 and another in 2008. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Checchi finished 18th in the 15 km + 15 km double pursuit event and 36th in the 15 km event. Robert Joseph Checchi (April 20, 1926 – June 4, 1993) was an American set decorator. Life and career Checchi was born in Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Texas. Checchi worked as a set designer for CBS after moving to Hollywood, California. Andrea Checchi (21 October 1916 – 29 March 1974) was a prolific Italian film actor. Biography Born in Florence, Checchi appeared in over 150 films in his lengthy career, which spanned from 1934 to his death in 1974. The son of a painter, he studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze. Moved to Rome, he attended the acting course held by Alessandro Blasetti, who gave him a small role in ''1860''. After graduating at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, he had his first role of weight in the 1940 historical drama film '' L'assedio dell'Alcazar'' by Augusto Genina. Arturo Checchi
Arturo Checchi (1886 – 24 December 1971) was an Italian artist active in Tuscany. His paintings and sculptures are in an expressionist style. Biography He was born in Fucecchio. In 1898, he began the study of drawing with a private tutor. In 1902 he enrolled for three years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, studying under Alfonso De Carolis. After completing studies, he settled in Florence, working as a decorative painter until the outbreak of the First World War led him to return to Fucecchio. Checchi exhibited at the Florentine ''Promotrice'' of 1911, 1913, and 1914, and at the ''Secessione Romana'' of 1914 and 1915. Works from the latter are now part of the collections of the Galleries of Modern Art at Florence and Rome. In 1916 he had two personal shows at the Forte dei Marmi and at the Kursaal in Viareggio.
