Box (Gas Album)
''Box'' is the second boxed set released by Wolfgang Voigt under his Gas alias. The album collects the compact disc versions of '' Zauberberg'', '' Königsforst '', ''Pop'' and '' Oktember''. The album marked Voigt's return to the Gas project, with a new album, '' Narkopop'', seeing release the year after ''Box''. The boxed set consisted of 10 vinyl records (3 per album, 1 for ''Oktember'') as well as 4 compact discs and an art book. ''Box'' contains some differences between its contents and the previously issued versions of each album. Apart from overall remastering of the music, several songs appear in slightly longer versions. Notably, the A1 and D1 songs exclusive to the vinyl version of ''Königsforst'' were appended to the end of that disc, marking their first digital appearance. Also, the first song of ''Oktember'' was replaced with ''Tal '90'', a piece released on Kompakt's compilation ''Pop Ambient 2002'', as the original piece is identical to the first piece of ''Königs ...

Gas (musician)
Gas (stylized as GAS or G A S) is the main musical project of German electronic music, electronic musician and composer Wolfgang Voigt (born 1961). The project was created as an expressive medium inspired by his experiences with taking LSD in the :de:Königsforst, Königsforst, a German forest situated near his hometown of Cologne, for long periods in his youth. He has claimed that the intention of the project is to "bring the forest to the disco, or vice-versa". History Wolfgang Voigt began creating music under the name of Gas starting in 1995, when he released the EP ''Modern'' on the label Profan. However, he has regarded individual pieces created from 1989 onward as being part of the Gas project, marked by a compiled 2008 release under his real name. A hiatus for the Gas project started after the release of ''Pop (Gas album), Pop'' in 2000, but this concluded when in 2008, Voigt's own label Kompakt re-released all four of his Gas albums, albeit with subtle changes made to the ...

Uncut (magazine)
''Uncut'' is a monthly magazine based in London. It is available across the English-speaking world, and focuses on music, but also includes film and books sections. A DVD magazine under the ''Uncut'' brand was published quarterly from 2005 to 2006. The magazine was acquired in 2019 by Singaporean music company BandLab Technologies, and was published by NME Networks from December 2021 to August 2023, when the brand was sold to Kelsey Media. ''Uncut'' (main magazine) ''Uncut'' was launched in May 1997 by IPC as "a monthly magazine aimed at 25- to 45-year-old men that focuses on music and movies", edited by Allan Jones (former editor of '' Melody Maker''). Jones has stated that " e idea for Uncut came from my own disenchantment about what I was doing with ''Melody Maker''. There was a publishing initiative to make the audience younger; I was getting older and they wanted to take the readers further away from me", specifically referring to the then dominant Britpop genre. Gas (musician) Albums
Gas is a state of matter with neither fixed volume nor fixed shape. It is a compressible form of fluid. A ''pure'' gas consists of individual atoms (e.g. a noble gas like neon), or molecules (e.g. oxygen (O2) or carbon dioxide). Pure gases can also be mixed together such as in the air. What distinguishes gases from liquids and solids is the vast separation of the individual gas particles. This separation can make some gases invisible to the human observer. The gaseous state of matter occurs between the liquid and plasma states, the latter of which provides the upper-temperature boundary for gases. Bounding the lower end of the temperature scale lie degenerative quantum gases which are gaining increasing attention. High-density atomic gases super-cooled to very low temperatures are classified by their statistical behavior as either Bose gases or Fermi gases. For a comprehensive listing of these exotic states of matter, see list of states of matter. Elemental gases The only c ...

Königsforst
''Königsforst'' is the third album by Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project. It was released in December 1998 on the Mille Plateaux label. The album is named after Königsforst recreation park, near Voigt's hometown of Köln, in which his youthful experiments with LSD provided inspiration for the entire Gas project. The CD and vinyl pressings feature notable differences. The first songs on the vinyl's A and D sides were exclusive to this pressing until the 2016 release of Gas' second box set, ''Box'', where they were added to the end of the CD version of ''Königsforst''. The CD features a re-arranged track listing, with tracks B2 and D2 gaining noticeable extensions; B2 gains nearly eight minutes of runtime. The first track on CD was also released as "Oktember A" on the '' Oktember'' EP; because of this, "Oktember A" was replaced with "Tal '90" – a piece Voigt wrote under the alias of Tal – when ''Oktember'' was included in ''Box'' alongside ''Königsforst''. Vinyl Records
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English) or a vinyl record (for later varieties only) is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the outside edge and ends near the center of the disc. The stored sound information is made audible by playing the record on a phonograph (or "gramophone", "turntable", or "record player"). Records have been produced in different formats with playing times ranging from a few minutes to around 30 minutes per side. For about half a century, the discs were commonly made from shellac and these records typically ran at a rotational speed of 78 rpm, giving it the nickname "78s" ("seventy-eights"). After the 1940s, "vinyl" records made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) became standard replacing the old 78s and remain so to this day; they have since been produced in various sizes and speeds, most commonly 7-inch discs played ...

Oktember
''Oktember'' is the second EP by German musician Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project. It was released in February 1999 on the Mille Plateaux label. "Oktember A" was later released as the first song on the CD pressing of Gas' third album ''Königsforst''. Because of this, "Oktember A" was replaced with "Tal '90" (previously released as part of Kompakt's ''Pop Ambient 2002'' compilation), as part of ''Oktember'''s inclusion in Gas' second boxed set, ''Box A box (plural: boxes) is a container with rigid sides used for the storage or transportation of its contents. Pop (Gas Album)
''Pop'' is the fourth album by German producer Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project, released in March 2000 by Mille Plateaux. Influenced by LSD experiences in a German forest and wanting to create a "pop sound" for his subculture of German techno, Voigt's music as Gas is characterized by looping layered orchestral samples over a bass drum, with his early work having somber atmosphere. ''Pop'' departs from this ambient techno sound in favor of ambient music that utilizes brighter musical elements with an emphasis on texture. Critical reception of ''Pop'' has been generally positive, with some publications listing ''Pop'' among the best albums of the 2000s. After the release of ''Pop'', Voigt put Gas on hiatus for seventeen years until the release of '' Narkopop'' (2017), with ''Pop'' being reissued as part of the box sets '' Nah und Fern'' (2008) and ''Box'' (2016) during this time. Background and release Wolfgang Voigt is an electronic music producer from Cologne, taking part in ...

Zauberberg (album)
''Zauberberg'' (English: ''Magic Mountain'') is the second album by Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project. It was first released on vinyl in December 1997 on the Mille Plateaux label, with a CD release following in February 1998. The album is named in reference to the Thomas Mann novel ''The Magic Mountain'' (''Der Zauberberg''). It is the first Gas album to incorporate the forest imagery that would become a trademark of the project. Reviews generally cite ''Zauberberg'' as the darkest, most dissonant Gas release. The CD and vinyl pressings feature notable differences. The songs are re-ordered for the CD format, with several presented as extended versions. For ''Zauberberg'''s inclusion in the '' Nah und Fern'' boxed set, track 6 of the CD was replaced with an extended version of the same piece. Gas' second boxed set, ''Box'', features tracks 1, 3, 6 and 7 of the CD in extended format. Track listing Vinyl pressing Compact disc pressing ''Box A box (plural: boxes) is a con ...

Compact Disc
The compact disc (CD) is a Digital media, digital optical disc data storage format co-developed by Philips and Sony to store and play digital audio recordings. It employs the Compact Disc Digital Audio (CD-DA) standard and was capable of holding of uncompressed stereo audio. First released in Japan in October 1982, the CD was the second optical disc format to reach the market, following the larger LaserDisc (LD). In later years, the technology was adapted for computer data storage as CD-ROM and subsequently expanded into various writable and multimedia formats. , over 200 billion CDs (including audio CDs, CD-ROMs, and CD-Rs) had been sold worldwide. Standard CDs have a diameter of and typically hold up to 74 minutes of audio or approximately of data. This was later regularly extended to 80 minutes or by reducing the spacing between data tracks, with some discs unofficially reaching up to 99 minutes or which falls outside established specifications. Smaller variants, such ...
