''Blue Peter'' is a British children's television entertainment programme created by John Hunter Blair. It is the longest-running children's TV show in the world, having been broadcast since October 1958. It was broadcast primarily from BBC Television Centre in London until September 2011, when the programme moved to dock10 studios at MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester. It is currently aired on the CBBC television channel on Fridays at 5 p.m. The show is also repeated on Saturday mornings on BBC Two, Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and a BSL version is shown on Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. For decades the show was regularly broadcast live; however, in March 2025, a fully pre-recorded format was introduced. John Noakes
John Noakes (born John Wallace Bottomley; 6 March 1934 – 28 May 2017) was an English television presenter and actor. He co-presented the BBC children's magazine programme '' Blue Peter'' in the 1960s and 1970s and is the show's longest-serving presenter, with a tenure that lasted 12 years and six months. Early life Noakes was born John Bottomley, at the Royal Halifax Infirmary in Halifax, West Riding of Yorkshire, to Sallie Hinchcliffe (née Hampson) and Arthur Wallace Bottomley. He was educated at Shelf Council School, in Shelf and then at Rishworth School near Halifax, where he excelled in cross country running and gymnastics. ''The Big Breakfast'' is a British breakfast light entertainment television programme that was broadcast on Channel 4 from 1992 to 2002, and as a revival from 2021 to 2022. The show had various presenters, starting with Chris Evans (presenter), Chris Evans and Gaby Roslin at launch with the revival episodes presented by Mo Gilligan and AJ Odudu. Edward Barnes (television Executive)
Edward Campbell Barnes (8 October 1928 – 8 September 2021) was a British television executive, and producer at the BBC. He was credited with creating the children's television programme ''Newsround''. Biography Barnes was educated at Milton Abbey School, an independent boarding school for boys (now co-educational), in Milton Abbas, Dorset. Barnes was a co-creator of ''Blue Peter'' in 1958, and the programme's assistant director. Later, he was a producer of the series.
