Anders Gillner
Anders Gillner (born 6 August 1967) is a Swedish former professional golfer who played on the European Tour. Gillner represented Sweden at the 1984 European Boys' Team Championship at the Royal St George's Golf Club. He turned professional in 1988 and played on the Swedish Golf Tour where he won the Wermland Open and Swedish International Stroke Play Championship – Aragon Open in 1989, and was runner-up at the 1988 Swedish Matchplay Championship and 1991 Västerås Open. Turning his attention to Europe, on the 1992 Challenge Tour Gillner had 9 top-10 finishes, including third place at Club Med Open in Bogogno, runner-up at the Audi Quattro Trophy one stroke behind Pierre Fulke, and winning the season-ending Tessali Open in Italy after a playoff with Baldovino Dassù, finishing 8th on the Challenge Tour ranking. Västerås ( , , ) is a city in central Sweden on the shore of Lake Mälaren in the province of Västmanland, west of Stockholm. 1993 European Tour
The 1993 European Tour, titled as the 1993 Volvo Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 22nd official season of golf tournaments known as the PGA European Tour. The season was made up of 38 tournaments counting for the Order of Merit, and five non-counting "Approved Special Events". The Order of Merit was won by Scotland's Colin Montgomerie for the first time, overtaking Nick Faldo with victory in the season ending Volvo Masters. Changes for 1993 There were few changes from the previous season, with the addition of the Madeira Island Open and a ProServ tournament in Bologna replacing the Volvo Open di Firenze. A new tournament was planned for South Africa but was not finalised. Mikael Högberg
Mikael Högberg (born 4 October 1960) is a retired Swedish professional golfer. He won the Swedish Golf Tour Order of Merit in 1990 and joined the European Tour in 1991. Amateur career Högberg finished fourth at the 1982 European Youths' Team Championship and won the 1983 Swedish International Stroke Play Championship. He represented Sweden at the 1984 Eisenhower Trophy and finished 8th together with Carl-Magnus Strömberg and Jesper Parnevik. He represented the Continent of Europe at the 1984 St Andrews Trophy at Saunton Golf Club with a team that included Fredrik Lindgren and José María Olazábal. SI Aragon Open
The Swedish International Stroke Play Championship or Swedish International (SI) was a golf tournament played in Sweden from 1945 to 2007. It has been featured on the Swedish Golf Tour and the Challenge Tour. Named the Swedish Golf Federation 72-hole Stroke Play Championship at inception, it was known locally as the Svenskt Internationellt Slagtävlingsmästerskap (SISM) until it formally assumed the name Swedish International in 1984. Professionals and amateurs competed separately from 1945 to 1958, before being amateur only from 1959 to 1983, turning open to any golfer from 1984 with the introduction of the Swedish Golf Tour (SGT). Olle Nordberg (golfer)
Olle Nordberg (born 2 May 1967) is a Swedish professional golfer who played on the Asian Tour and European Tour. Amateur career Nordberg was introduced to golf at an early age by his father, Björn Nordberg, an elite golfer who captained the winning Swedish European Boys' Team Championship teams in 1983 and 1991, and later served as European Golf Association President, Swedish Golf Federation President, and European Tour Board Non-Executive Director. Nordberg grew up in Boden. In 1982, the family moved to Täby where Nordberg attended the Danderyd Golfgymnasium. Peter Mikael Hedblom (born 20 January 1970) is a Swedish professional golfer. Early years Hedblom was born in Gävle, Sweden. When he was just a few years old, he followed his father Olle, a former bandy player, who later became a golf club professional, to the golf course at Gävle Golf Club. Peter became a member at seven and early showed great talent, but was actively involved in ice hockey before that. His younger sister Marlene did not start her golfing career until the age of 12, but also later became a tournament professional. Per Haugsrud (born 20 February 1965) is a Norwegian professional golfer and the first Norwegian to play on the European Tour. Amateur career Haugsrud began to play golf at the nine hole course in Sarpsborg when he was only seven years old. He was a scratch player at age 15. He won two Norwegian Amateur titles and represented Norway in the 1984 Eisenhower Trophy, the World Amateur Golf Team Championships. Anders Haglund
Anders Haglund (born 4 November 1964) is a Swedish former professional golfer. Haglund was born in Borås, Sweden and played college golf at the University of South Florida in the United States. As an amateur golfer, he won the inaugural European Amateur in 1986 at the Eindhoven Golf Club, which also won him the SR P4 Sjuhäradssporten Prize for sporting achievement of the year. Playing mainly on the Challenge Tour, Haglund won the Open de Bordeaux in 1989 and was tied for first in the rain-abandoned 1997 Interlaken Open. 1989 Challenge Tour
The 1989 Challenge Tour was a series of golf tournaments known as the Challenge Tour, the official development tour run by the PGA European Tour. The tour was started as the Satellite Tour with its first Order of Merit rankings in 1989 and was officially named the Challenge Tour ready for the start of the 1990 season. Turnberry (golf Course)
Turnberry is a golf resort on the Firth of Clyde in Ayrshire, southwest Scotland. It comprises three Links (golf), links golf courses, a golf academy, a hotel rating, five-star James Miller (architect), James Miller-designed hotel from 1906, along with lodge and cottage accommodations. Turnberry was a popular golf course and resort from its inception, made accessible because of the Maidens and Dunure Light Railway. It closed in both World Wars for military use, and there was concern it would not open following World War II, but it was redesigned by Mackenzie Ross and re-opened in 1951.
