Allianz Challenge De France
The Challenge de France was a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour, played in France. It was held for the first time in May 1998 at Golf de Sablé-Solesmes in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, before moving to October for the following three seasons, during which it was played on a succession of French courses. The tournament was discontinued after 2001, although the name was used on some occasions for the AGF-Allianz Open des Volcans. In 2011, the tournament was revived as the Allianz Challenge de France, and was held at the Golf Disneyland course in Paris, which had also been the venue in 1999, and hosted the Tournoi Perrier de Paris in 1993. Maximilian Kieffer
Maximilian Kieffer (born 25 June 1990) is a German professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Career Kieffer was born in Bergisch Gladbach. He played most of his golf at Hubbelrath Golf Club in Düsseldorf, the same club as Martin Kaymer. He represented the German National team from 2005-2010 and represented Europe in the Junior Ryder Cup in 2006. He played college golf briefly in the United States at the University of Florida. He turned professional in 2010. Kieffer joined the Challenge Tour in 2011 and won his first tournament in 2012 at the Gujarat Kensville Challenge in India. In April 2013, Kieffer lost in a sudden-death playoff at the Open de España. Scott Watson (golfer)
Ben Smart and Olivia Hope, two young New Zealanders, disappeared in the early hours of the morning on New Year's Day, 1January 1998. The two friends had been celebrating on New Year's Eve at Furneaux Lodge in the Marlborough Sounds with other partygoers. The pair accepted an offer from a stranger to stay aboard his yacht in the early hours of the morning, and it was the last time they were seen alive. The disappearance of the duo sparked one of the most publicised and controversial investigations in New Zealand's history. After a five month investigation the police arrested Scott Watson, a resident of Picton. At trial, he was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum non-parole period of seventeen years. The tour was started as the Satellite Tour in 1986 and was renamed the Challenge Tour ready for the start of the 1990 season. The Challenge Tour Rankings were won by England's Warren Bennett. Gustavo Rojas (golfer)
Gustavo Rojas (born 28 September 1967) is an Argentine professional golfer. Rojas was born in Buenos Aires. He turned professional in 1984. He has had his greatest success in South America on the various Argentine tours and the regional Tour de las Américas. In 2002, he was tied with Ángel Cabrera in the Argentine PGA Championship after 54 holes, but torrential rain meant that the final round was cancelled and the two shared the title. Rojas has played on the European Tour and its development tour, the Challenge Tour, since 1999. He has struggled to establish himself at the highest level, and has often had to return to the tours qualifying school. His best tournament finishes on the elite tour have been a pair of joint 5th places at the 2000 BMW International Open and the 2001 Via Digital Open de España. Iain Pyman
Iain Pyman (born 3 March 1973) is an English professional golfer. Early life and amateur career Pyman was born in Whitby. He won the Carris Trophy in 1991, and played in a winning Jacques Léglise Trophy team the same year. In 1993 he won The Amateur Championship by defeating Paul Page after 37 holes at Royal Portrush, and was the leading amateur in The Open Championship at Royal St George's. He played in the Walker Cup at the end of 1993. Professional career Pyman turned professional in 1994. His career has fluctuated between seasons on the main European Tour and seasons on the second tier Challenge Tour. He has won eight tournaments on the Challenge Tour, more than any other player, but has not won on the European Tour. Carlos Jose Rodiles (born 3 May 1975) is a Spanish professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. Early life Rodiles was born in Málaga, Spain. Nowadays he lives in Marbella, Spain. Fredrik Andersson Hed (20 January 1972 – 24 October 2021) was a Swedish professional golfer and broadcaster. He won the 2010 BMW Italian Open. Early life Andersson Hed was born in Halmstad on 20 January 1972. He began playing golf when he was ten years old and turned professional in 1992. Career Andersson Hed won his first title on the Challenge Tour only a year after turning pro at the inaugural Danish PGA Championship. He later won the Challenge de France held in Le Touquet in 2003. Scott Drummond
Scott Drummond (born 29 May 1974) is a Scottish professional golfer. Drummond was born in Shrewsbury in England. He played amateur golf for England but decided to represent Scotland, the country of his father, when he turned professional in 1996. In the early years of his career Drummond struggled to win a regular place on the main European Tour, and spent a good deal of his time on the second tier Challenge Tour. In 2004 he claimed a surprise win in the prestigious Volvo PGA Championship, which catapulted him 340 places, from 435th to 95th in the world rankings, and gave him a five-year exemption on the European Tour. He ended the season in 23rd place on the Order of Merit, and was selected as the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year.
