1998 Challenge Tour
The 1998 Challenge Tour was a series of golf tournaments known as the Challenge Tour, the official development tour run by the PGA European Tour. The tour was started as the Satellite Tour in 1986 and was renamed the Challenge Tour ready for the start of the 1990 season. The Challenge Tour Rankings were won by England's Warren Bennett. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 1998 season. Unofficial events The following events were sanctioned by the Challenge Tour, but did not carry official money, wins were still official however. Challenge Tour Rankings ''For full rankings, see 1998 Challenge Tour graduates.'' The rankings were based on prize money won during the season, calculated in Pound sterling. The top 15 players on the tour earned status to play on the 1999 European Tour. Warren Bennett
Warren Bennett (born 20 August 1971) is an England, English professional golfer. Career Bennett was born in Ashford, Surrey and is the son of former footballer Peter Bennett (English footballer), Peter Bennett. In 1994, he won the Australian Amateur and was the leading amateur at The Open Championship. He turned professional later that year. Bennett failed to win a European Tour card at Qualifying School in either 1994 or 1995, and missed much of 1996 with a twisted vertebrae. In 1998, he headed the second tier Challenge Tour rankings having won five tournaments during the season, increasing his career tally at that level to seven. From 1999 to 2004 he played on the European Tour, winning his only European Tour title at the 1999 Gleneagles Scottish PGA Championship, Scottish PGA Championship, but he continued to be troubled by injuries. The Open di Puglia e Basilicata is an annual professional golf tournament held in Riva dei Tessali, near Castellaneta, Italy. First held in 1983, there was a brief hiatus before the second edition in 1986. The tournament became part of the second tier Challenge Tour schedule in 1991, where it remained until 2007. Thomas Bratboel Nielsen (16 March 1974) is a former Danish cricketer. Nielsen was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium. Farooq represented Denmark Under-19's in 4 youth One Day Internationals in 1998, He later made his debut for Denmark in a List A match against Northamptonshire in the 1st round of the 2005 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. Johan Ryström
Johan Börje Ryström (born 13 January 1964) is a Swedish professional golfer. Ryström grew up in Köping. He started playing golf at age six and was a scratch golfer by age fifteen. in August 1986, Ryström won the Nordic Championship over 72 holes in Hvide Klit, Denmark. Later that year he represented Sweden at the Eisenhower Trophy in Caracas, Venezuela, finishing 4th with his team and 9th individually. The Austrian Open is a men's professional golf tournament on the European Tour. It was founded in 1990, and was a European Tour event for seven straight years up to 1996, being held under a variety of names due to regular changes of title sponsor. Stephen James Gallacher (born 1 November 1974) is a Scottish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Early life and amateur career Gallacher was born in Dechmont, West Lothian and is the nephew of former European Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher and cousin of Sky Sports news presenter Kirsty Gallacher. He won the 1994 European Amateur and a couple of important amateur tournaments in Britain. He played in a victorious Walker Cup side in 1995 and turned professional later that year.
