Al-Ahly (Benghazi) Basketball Team
Al-Ahly Sports Cultural & Social Club (), also known as Al-Ahly Ly or Al-Ahly Benghazi, is a Libyan basketball club that is based in Benghazi. Founded in 1950, the club competes in the Libyan Division I Basketball League and has won three championships, in 2010, 2011 and 2023. In the 2024 season, they debuted in the Basketball Africa League (BAL), becoming the first team from Libya to play in the competition. Al Ahly has won the Arab Club Championship in 2012 and 2013. Al Ahly Ly were the runners-up of the 2024 BAL season. History Al-Ahly is the basketball section of the multi-sports club; the basketball section was founded in 1950, although the club had been active before. BAL Champion
The Basketball Africa League (BAL) is a seasonal basketball league established in 2019 and first held in 2021. The league is a joint venture by the National Basketball Association (NBA) and FIBA, and is open to national champions of FIBA Africa member countries. The finals of each season are played in a single-game format, which is held at an arena that is chosen by the BAL organisation. The winner automatically qualifies for that year's FIBA Intercontinental Cup. The data below does not include the FIBA Africa Club Champions Cup, the predecessor of the BAL that was held between 1972 and 2019. Zamalek won the inaugural final in 2021. BAL Most Valuable Player
The Basketball Africa League Hakeem Olajuwon Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) is an annual Basketball Africa League (BAL) award given to the best player of a given season. The award is named after all-time great Hakeem Olajuwon. The award was first handed out in the 2021 BAL season, inaugural season to Walter Hodge. From the 2024 season, fan voting was introduced in the process with 25% of the score being determined by online fan votes. Fans could vote on a selected pool of players. Atlético Petróleos de Luanda, commonly known as Petro de Luanda, is an Angolan basketball club based in Luanda. It competes at the local level, in the Luanda Provincial Basketball Championship and in the BIC Basket, Angola National Basketball Championship. 2024 BAL Final
The 2024 BAL final was the championship game of the 2024 BAL season, the third season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), and the conclusion of the 2024 BAL playoffs, playoffs. Rivers Hoopers is a Nigerian professional basketball team based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The team plays in the Nigerian Premier League (NPL) and currently in the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Established in 2005 as Royal Hoopers, the team began to play in the NPL in 2019 and changed to their current name after the management of the team was taken over by the Government of Rivers State. 2024 BAL Nile Conference
The 2024 BAL Nile Conference was the 3rd season of the Nile Conference, one of the three conferences of the 2024 season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The composition of the conference and the schedule were announced on 15 February 2024. The conference games began on 19 April and ended on 27 April 2024. Pierre Deshawn Jackson (born August 29, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for Capitanes de Arecibo of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN). Majok Machar Deng (born 1 March 1993) is a South Sudanese-Australian professional basketball player for Al Ittihad Alexandria of the Egyptian Super League. He is also contracted with the Tasmania JackJumpers of the National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball in the United States for Indian Hills Community College and Louisiana–Monroe.
