AMD 700 Chipset Series
The AMD 700 chipset series (also called as AMD 7-Series Chipsets) is a set of chipsets designed by ATI for AMD Phenom processors to be sold under the AMD brand. Several members were launched in the end of 2007 and the first half of 2008, others launched throughout the rest of 2008. Development history The existence of the chipsets was proven in October 2006 through two hardware websites in Chile and Spain which posted the leaked slides of an ATI internal event, "ATI chipset update". In the slides, ATI has shown a series of RD700 series chipset logics codenamed ''RD790'', ''RX790'', ''RS780'' and ''RS740'' respectively. A ''SB700'' southbridge was also mentioned in the event. The 790X (codename ''RD780'') chipset was spotted in Computex 2007, exhibited by ASUS. The ''RS780D'' was first reported by HKEPC while the ''RX780H'' was first seen on ECS internal presentations. ''The Inquirer'' (stylized as TheINQUIRER) was a British technology tabloid website founded by Mike Magee after his departure from ''The Register'' (of which he was one of the founding members) in 2001. AMD Puma
The Puma Family 16h is a low-power microarchitecture by AMD for its APUs. It succeeds the Jaguar as a second-generation version, targets the same market, and belongs to the same AMD architecture Family 16h. COMPUTEX Taipei, or Taipei International Information Technology Show (), is a computer expo held annually in Taipei, Taiwan. Since the early 2000s, it is one of the largest computer and technology trade shows in the world. The most recent COMPUTEX was held from 20 May to 23 May 2025 with sessions about such topics as artificial intelligence and robotics, next-gen technologies and future mobility. COMPUTEX 2020 was cancelled after a delay from early June to 28 September due to public health safety concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic. CeBIT was a computer expo which, at its peak, was the largest and most internationally representative. The trade fair was held each year on the Hanover fairground, the world's largest fairground, in Hanover, Germany. In its day, it was considered a barometer of current trends and a measure of the state of the art in information technology. It was organized by Deutsche Messe AG. Southbridge (computing)
In computing, a southbridge is a component of a traditional two-part chipset architecture on motherboards, historically used in personal computers. It works alongside the northbridge to manage communications between the central processing unit (CPU) and lower-speed peripheral interfaces. The northbridge typically handled high-speed connections such as RAM and GPU interfaces, while the southbridge managed lower-speed functions. The southbridge controls a range of input/output (I/O) functions, including USB, audio, firmware (e.g., BIOS or UEFI), storage interfaces such as SATA, NVMe, and legacy PATA, as well as buses like PCI, LPC, and SPI. Phenom (processor)
Phenom () is the 64-bit AMD desktop processor line based on the K10 microarchitecture, in what AMD calls family 10h (10 hex, i.e. 16 in normal decimal numbers) processors, sometimes incorrectly called "K10h". Triple-core versions (codenamed ''Toliman'') belong to the Phenom 8000 series and quad cores (codenamed ''Agena'') to the AMD Phenom X4 9000 series.
