48th Hong Kong International Film Festival
The 48th Hong Kong International Film Festival () took place from 28 March to 8 April 2024. Fruit Chan was selected as the Filmmaker in Focus for this edition and masterclasses led by Víctor Erice and Martin McDonagh were featured. The festival opened with the Hong Kong LGBTQ-themed drama ''All Shall Be Well (film), All Shall Be Well'' by Ray Yeung and closed with the Japanese drama ''All The Long Nights'' by Miyake Sho. This year, 190 films from 62 countries were screened, including five world premieres, six international premieres, and sixty-four Asian premieres. Karena Lam was chosen as the new ambassador of the HKIFF starting this edition, succeeding Aaron Kwok, who served for the past five years. All Shall Be Well (film)
''All Shall Be Well'' () is a 2024 Hong Kong drama film written and directed by Ray Yeung. The film starring Patra Au, Maggie Li Lin Lin initially revolves around Angie and Pat, who are a well-off lesbian couple in their mid-60s but the story ultimately explores family dynamics after the sudden death of Pat. It had its premiere in the Panorama section at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on 16 February 2024. The film won the Teddy Award for best LGBTQ-themed feature film, and 3rd place in Panorama Audience Award for Best Feature Film. Fruit Chan
Fruit Chan Gor (; born 15 April 1959) is a Hong Kong Second Wave filmmaker who is best known for his style of film reflecting the everyday life of Hong Kong people. He is well known for using amateur actors (such as Sam Lee in '' Made in Hong Kong'', Wong Yau-Nam in '' Hollywood Hong Kong'') in his films. He became a household name after the success of the 1997 film '' Made in Hong Kong'', which earned many local and international awards. Early life Chan was born in Guangdong, China. Eiko Ishibashi
is a Japanese singer-songwriter and musician. She has frequently worked with Jim O'Rourke, with O'Rourke producing several of her albums and Ishibashi playing on his album Simple Songs. Together with Tatsuhisa Yamamoto they formed the band Kafka's Ibiki. In 2016, she released the album '' Kouen Kyoudai'', a collaboration with the Japanese noise musician Masami Akita (better known as Merzbow). Aaron Kwok Fu-shing (born 26 October 1965) is a Hong Kong singer, dancer and actor. Active since the 1980s, Kwok is known as one of the "Four Heavenly Kings" of Hong Kong pop music. Dubbed the "God of Dance", Kwok's onstage dancing is influenced by the late American performer Michael Jackson.
