2025 MPBL Season
The 2025 MPBL season is the upcoming seventh season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and its fourth under professional status. The regular season will begin on March 8, 2025. The league will expand to the Cagayan Valley region for the first time with the addition of the Ilagan Isabela Cowboys while Basilan's team confirmed its intent to return this season as the Basilan Starhorse after a three-season absence. Additional details in regard to this season will be announced by February 8. Entering this season, the Pampanga Giant Lanterns are two-time defending champions and reigning North Division champions while the Quezon Huskers are the reigning South Division champions. Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League
The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a men's professional sports, professional basketball league in the Philippines. History Manny Pacquiao launched the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League on August 29, 2017, starting off as a semi-professional league. According to Pacquiao, the league is not intended to be a competitor to the Philippine Basketball Association, the country's top professional basketball league. The MPBL was intended to feature both a regional commercial and barangay-level league with teams on the commercial side to have a home locality in addition to a corporate sponsor. North Division (MPBL)
The North Division is one of two divisions in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), the other being the South Division. As of 2023, the North Division consists of 15 teams. Both divisions were formed as a result of the league's national expansion in the 2018–19 season. The most recent realignment occurred in the 2023 season. Zamboanga Master Sardines
The Zamboanga Master Sardines, officially known as Master Sardines Zamboanga, are a Filipino professional basketball team based in the Zamboanga Peninsula. The team currently competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as a member of the league's South Division (MPBL), South Division. They are the lone team based in the Zamboanga Peninsula region and play their home games at the Mayor Vitaliano D. Agan Coliseum in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur. The Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards are a professional basketball team based in Nueva Ecija, Philippines. Jaycee Carlos Marcelino (born October 19, 1995) is a Filipino basketball player for the Zamboanga Family's Brand Sardines of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He was drafted 17th overall pick in the 2nd round of the 2019 PBA draft. Early life Jaycee was born in Olongapo City along with his twin brother, Jayvee. The Converge FiberXers are a professional basketball team owned by Converge ICT. The team competes in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The franchise began after acquiring the former Alaska Aces franchise on March 23, 2022. History On February 16, 2022, Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) announced that the Alaska Aces will leave the PBA at the end of the 2021 Governors' Cup. Justine Baltazar (born February 19, 1997) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Pampanga Giant Lanterns of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He is listed at 6 feet 9 ½ inches (2.07 m). Early life and education Baltazar was born on February 19, 1997 in Mabalacat, Pampanga. He moved to Metro Manila in 2012 to attend the Nazareth School of National University. In college, he attended De La Salle University. MPBL Preseason Invitational
The MPBL Preseason Invitational is the preseason pocket tournament of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). The tournament was established in 2021, ahead of the 2022 MPBL season. The first edition of the tournament was simply called the MPBL Invitational. History The COVID-19 pandemic forced the league to temporarily suspend league play on March 12, 2020, in the midst of its 2020–21 MPBL playoffs, 2020 playoffs.
