2025 MPBL Season
The 2025 MPBL season is the upcoming seventh season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and its fourth under professional status. The regular season will begin on March 8, 2025. The league will expand to the Cagayan Valley region for the first time with the addition of the Ilagan Isabela Cowboys while Basilan's team confirmed its intent to return this season as the Basilan Starhorse after a three-season absence. Additional details in regard to this season will be announced by February 8. Entering this season, the Pampanga Giant Lanterns are two-time defending champions and reigning North Division champions while the Quezon Huskers are the reigning South Division champions. The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a men's professional sports, professional basketball league in the Philippines. History Manny Pacquiao launched the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League on August 29, 2017, starting off as a semi-professional league. According to Pacquiao, the league is not intended to be a competitor to the Philippine Basketball Association, the country's top professional basketball league. North Division (MPBL)
The North Division is one of two divisions in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), the other being the South Division. As of 2023, the North Division consists of 15 teams. Both divisions were formed as a result of the league's national expansion in the 2018–19 season. The most recent realignment occurred in the 2023 season. The Zamboanga Master Sardines, officially known as Master Sardines Zamboanga, are a Filipino professional basketball team based in the Zamboanga Peninsula. The team currently competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as a member of the league's South Division (MPBL), South Division. The MPBL Preseason Invitational is the preseason pocket tournament of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). The tournament was established in 2021, ahead of the 2022 MPBL season. The first edition of the tournament was simply called the MPBL Invitational.
