MPBL Preseason Invitational
The MPBL Preseason Invitational is the preseason pocket tournament of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). The tournament was established in 2021, ahead of the 2022 MPBL season. The first edition of the tournament was simply called the MPBL Invitational. History The COVID-19 pandemic forced the league to temporarily suspend league play on March 12, 2020, in the midst of its 2020–21 MPBL playoffs, 2020 playoffs. The league also cancelled its plans to start its fourth season in June of that year and instead aimed for a return in June 2021, which also didn't push through. As the league began its transition to professional status, it also looked to start an invitational tournament in December. 2021 MPBL Invitational
The 2021 MPBL Invitational, officially known as the Chooks-to-Go MPBL Invitational powered by TM for sponsorship reasons, was an invitational tournament that serves as the prelude to the 2022–23 MPBL season. It commenced on December 11, 2021 and ended on December 23, 2021. The tournament was also the first for the MPBL since it was granted professional status by the Games and Amusements Board. The Invitational was also the first professional sports event in the Philippines to allow live audiences since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, with the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, the venue for the tournament, only allowed to be at 50 percent capacity. The Imus SV Squad is a Filipino professional basketball team based in Imus, Cavite. The team currently competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as one of six active teams based in the Calabarzon region. Koponang Lakan ng Bulacan is a professional basketball currently playing in the Pilipinas Super League, and formerly in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3.
